Venture down to the Filling Station where live music lives, a local venue that brings in locally celebrated musicians and traveling acts of every genre. The concerts showcase a variety of artists, welcoming diverse audiences to the north Bozeman space with performances held throughout the week.
Opening the month on December 1st is a duo show co-headlined by The Hellroaring and Matt Wallin & His Nervous Breakdown. The music begins at 8pm.
Visiting from Billings, The Hellroaring pursues the classic honky tonk sound that connects with all country music fans. With a reputation as a high-energy live act with a stunning array of branded local musicians, the band follows in the footsteps of classic country artists such as Merle Haggard, Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakam. The band also blends a more modern sound of red dirt and Americana, with their recently released self-titled debut EP available now.
Frontman of His Nervous Breakdown tells stories about the trials and hardships of farm life and oil boomtowns, to starting a family and following your own path. His debut album, Ravens, paints musical pictures with writing that reflects the character of Corb Lund, Waylon Jennings and Vic Chestnutt. Wallin’s music hits on ethereal parts of human life: love, connections and regret, all interwoven into the fabric of his artistry.
Skilled tribute group Mojo Risin comes to the Filler on Dec. 2nd. Pony Express will open the 8pm show.
Formed with the goal of honoring and celebrating the music of The Doors, the Bozeman-based band is comprised of professional and passionate musicians and a frontman who embodies the soulful and mystic nature of Jim Morrison. From “Light My Fire” to “LA Woman” and everything in between, Mojo Risin’s live shows aim to recreate one of the most influential and controversial rock acts of the 1960s.
Take in an evening with Beatbox Nate & Friends on Dec. 8th. The event begins at 8pm.
The show presents a post-modern, anti-art inclusive organic thought experience with the Dry Nephew Consortium. Other participating acts will include Violent Stench, Twink Floyd and Gheimreidh.
Filthy Family Presents hip-hop artist Stevie Stone on Dec. 9th. Filth & Foul will open the 8pm show.
The man behind the name, Stephen Williams is a Billboard-charting rapper from Colombia, MO. A onetime artist under Tech N9ne’s Strange Music label, Stone is currently an independent artist and label head for his own Ahdasee Records. The lyrical beast released his latest full-length, Raising the Bar, last year as well as numerous follow-up singles.
Taylor Burlage entertains with a Dec. 15th performance.
His songwriting takes on a texture reflective of the mountains he grew up in, using their power and imagery to craft songs that navigate life, loss, joys and heartbreak of the human condition. His debut album I Might Be Gone released in the spring.
Enjoy the talents of El Wencho on Dec. 16th. Local singer/songwriter Mathias will be on hand to open the 8pm show.
The powerhouse duo delivers big sound that relates the Montana lifestyle through immersive lyrics, catchy melodies and driving rhythms. Their authentic music is an eclectic fusion of genres that draws on sonic elements from red dirt rock, blues, country, Americana and polyrhythmic Latin percussion. Live shows are an experiential combination of their dynamic Montana sound, engaging storytelling and comedic flair.
Following on Dec. 17th, Jerry Joseph delivers a solo acoustic performance. Local artist Matt Wallin will open the 8pm show.
Joseph is prolific and accomplished songwriter who’s written hits for Widespread Panic and has released dozens of albums in his decade-spanning career as a solo artist and member of numerous groups. He comes to Bozeman in support of his new album, Baby You’re the Man Who Would Be King.
Go for the Throat Presents a “Holiday Band Roulette” in benefit of Toys for Tots on Dec. 22nd. The music-filled fundraiser begins at 8pm.
The event will see 14 area musicians thrown together at random, tasked with producing a full-band set with a single month to prepare. Entry admission is one toy valued at at least $10, to be donated to the national nonprofit.
STiLGONE bring down the house on Dec. 23rd. The show will serve as the infamous local group’s official B.O.L.O. album release.
The band’s roots are heavily steeped in soul and funk, with a dose of hip-hop. The latest iteration – influenced by frontman Symon Palmer’s evolving listening tastes and metal, rock and jam band leanings from bassist Carl Hansen and guitarist Chris Cowan – is heavier. The band also features the talents of Cal Treadway (keys), Matt Sloan (sax) and Ezra Bowman (drums). Official singles “Doo Wop” and “Paridose” are available now.
