The Shane Lalani Center for the Arts is thrilled to bring Jonathan Larson’s groundbreaking, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award–winning musical RENT to The Ellen Theatre.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, RENT remains a cultural phenomenon that redefined modern musical theatre, captured the voice of a generation, and continues to inspire audiences around the world.
Set in New York City’s East Village at the height of the 1990s bohemian movement, RENT follows a group of young artists and friends striving to create, love, and survive in the face of adversity. With its unforgettable rock score and enduring message to “measure your life in love,” this powerful story is a celebration of chosen family, resilience, and the beauty of living boldly in the moment.
Performances will take place at the Shane Center, February 27th – March 8th, and at the Ellen Theatre, March 13-22nd.
