Parent University: Adolescent Mental Health
April 15 @ 2:30pm
This Parent University will focus on feeling more prepared to respond when a middle schooler is struggling. Perrin Lundgren of Help Center, INC. will provide information on how to recognize common warning signs of mental health challenges in adolescents, how to approach a student with care and clarity, and what supportive, immediate steps adults can take in the moment. We will also cover when and how to connect a student to additional help, along with an overview of suicide prevention, including what to notice and how to talk about safety in a calm, direct way. The goal is to build shared language and practical tools for noticing concerns early and responding in a supportive, informed way.
Perrin Lundgren has been with the Help Center since 2010. Starting as a volunteer and was later hired as a staff member answering the Crisis lines. In 2014 Perrin completed their master’s degree in Marriage and Family counseling and began working for the Sexual Assault Counseling Center as an Advocate Counselor. In the past few years Perrin has worked as the Community Educator and became the Program Manager of the Sexual Assault Counseling Center.
