Ladybird, Stonefruit & Tyler John Kraehling
October 11 @ 8:00pm
If you like The Drive by Truckers, Lucero and Magnolia Electric Company this show is for you! The saying goes that on every block in the Midwest, there’s one bar and one church. If you tie one on too tight, you don’t have far to go to find a place that’s supposed to forgive you for all your sinning. The songs of Milwaukee-based Ladybird live somewhere on that block—on the long, cold walk between the high times at the tavern with your friends and the shadow of the steeple that reminds you of tomorrow’s responsibilities and yesterday’s mistakes.
Ladybird’s songs have a sense of casual comfort to them. Everyone you’ve ever met is inside these songs, though the names and the places change—the feeling they evoke is familiar. The details may be specific to the songwriter, but there’s a universal connectivity.
What stands out in the canon of the songs that make up Clementine is the kindness to the characters. There’s a forgiveness and a grace that comes from a place of experience. It’s the same grace granted with the silent smile from a grandparent or an uncle when you’re trying to convince them you’ve got it all figured out. They know that you don’t, and only they know how tough it gets when you figure that out, too—but you know they’ll be there for you the next time.
Ladybird has built a story of grit and determination since its inception in 2021. They’ve toured the country and played some good shows and some really not good shows. They’ve connected with their hometown in such a way that they’ve played some of the city’s most historic and treasured venues. As the band has evolved, the goals have stayed the same: make good records to be proud of and that would make the place you come from proud, get in the van and play those songs to as many people who will listen, and remain grateful for the opportunity.
The Ladybird universe is a family affair, albeit a drunken backyard extended family reunion type of family affair. The drinks are cold, and everyone’s got a story to tell. Pull up a chair and listen in. Clementine is set for release on 10/10/2025. The first single from the record, “Lapis Buckle” is out now. Turn it on, turn it up.
Opening the show will be Bozeman’s own Stonefruit along with Tyler John Kraeling. Doors open at 7 pm and Show starts at 8 pm sharp. Tickets at sellout.io Brought to you by Electric River Presents.
