Dark Money Screening & MT Plan Q&A
February 12 @ 6:00pm
Join your friends and neighbors to watch Dark Money at the Empire-Twin Theater, 106 N. 2nd Street in Livingston on February 12 at 6:00 p.m.
Dark Money, a political thriller, examines one of the greatest threats to American democracy: the influence of untraceable corporate money—dark money—on our elections and elected officials. The film takes you to the Montana frontline in the nonpartisan fight to preserve fair elections nationwide. It follows an intrepid local journalist working to expose the real-life impacts of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision. This gripping story uncovers the shocking and vital truth of how American elections are bought and sold, something of interest to all Montanans regardless of political perspective. This Sundance award-winning documentary was also nominated for an Academy Award.
The event is free and open to the public. The viewing will be followed by a Q&A with Jeff Mangan, leader of the Transparent Election Initiative, a statewide effort to get dark money out of Montana politics. Jeff will answer questions about the initiative and explain how you can help. Please spread the word about this event, bring your friends to join you for the screening, and help recruit others to help remove dark money from our elections.
