Bozeman Doc Series: Between the Mountain and the Sky
October 24 @ 6:30pm
On Thursday, October 24th, at 7pm at the Emerson Center, the Bozeman Doc Series continues with the Montana premiere of the award-winning new documentary, Between the Mountain and the Sky.
Maggie Doyne was 19 years old and traveling in Nepal when she saw a group of children doing backbreaking work in order to survive. It changed the trajectory of her life, inspiring her to start an orphanage and school for children in the region, many of whom were refugees of a brutal civil war. In 2015, Doyne was named CNN’s Hero of the Year. Based on Doyne’s memoir, the film addresses difficult questions about the human costs of humanitarian aid and shows how love can coexist and thrive in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
Between the Mountain and the Sky world-premiered at this year’s Mountainfilm festival in Telluride where it won the Audience Choice Award.
“An intriguing portrait…unusually refreshing…provocatively asks at what point she needs to protect herself from giving too much to be useful…as generous as Doyne has been in opening up a safe space, she is in opening up her life.” Moveable Fest
Doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets are available at the door or before the show online at www.bozemandocseries.org, where you can also buy Season Passes and 7-film punch cards, learn more about the series, and view trailers for upcoming films.
