Artist Open Studio – Chris Stoddard
January 30 @ 7:00pm
An artist reception and dance performance celebrating the works of Chris Stoddard. The art is installed at the RDE studios for dancers to draw inspiration and create choreography that is performed at the reception. The works will be on display and there is a casual performance experience with general admission seating. Performance pieces will feature choreography by Austine Moonshadow, Lotti Lofgren and Ashley Wolfe. The studio will open at 6:30, and the choreography will be performed 3 times every 45 minutes starting at 7pm.
Chris Stoddard is a contemporary ceramic sculptor whose work explores the layered legacies of family, industry, and belonging. Raised among the steel industries of Pittsburgh and currently residing in Montana, Chris draws inspiration from the tension between human enterprise and the natural world. In using wild clay and other materials gathered from personally meaningful locations, Chris investigates the alchemy of transforming individual and communal histories, asking: What does it mean to truly belong to a place? She has exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the Western United States and currently lives in Bozeman, MT.
