Enlightening planetarium show accompanied by final days of Butterflies & landscape photo exhibit
Bozeman’s Museum of the Rockies continues to offer its educational and visually stunning Season of Light in the Taylor Planetarium as 2019 draws to a close. Yule logs, Christmas trees, the Hanukkah Menorah, luminaries, and Santa Claus were all taken from different cultures to fill the dark months of the year with more light. Learn about the many holiday customs that make the winter more festive!
Season of Light shows daily at 11am and 3pm through December 31st. These screenings are included with Museum admission or membership. Please note: the Museum will close at 3pm on Dec. 24th (11am screening only) and will be closed on Christmas Day.
On display through Dec. 31st are exhibits Amazing Butterflies and Light on the Land: The Photographs of Albert Schlechten. Both are included with Museum admission or membership.
Amazing Butterflies invites you to shrink down into the undergrowth to become one of the most extraordinary creatures on earth. Embark on a challenging journey teeming with friends and foes revealing the unusual relationship between caterpillars, butterflies and their natural surroundings.
In the early 1900s, Bozeman photographer Albert Schlechten set out to create a series of landscape photographs that expressed his love of Southwest Montana and Yellowstone Park. Light on the Land is an exhibition presenting a dramatic and beautiful natural world through the lens of Albert’s camera.
And coming in the new year, a scaly new exhibit! Reptiles: The Beautiful and the Deadly opens January 25th. Reptiles have enduring appeal, and this interactive zoological exhibition will bring you eye to eye with living species from around the world. Deadly snakes, colorful lizards, unusual turtles and rugged crocodilians are exhibited in naturalistic habitats. Stay tuned for additional exhibit details.
There’s still time to give the gift of membership this holiday season! Share all that you love about MOR with friends and family. Members have the opportunity to experience diverse changing exhibits, the famous Siebel Dinosaur Complex, absorbing planetarium shows, as well as various programs and classes throughout the year.
