Emerson galleries feature trio of new exhibits ahead of Scotland-themed arts celebration
Winter is the opportune season for indoor activities and there’s no better way to warm up than with some local artwork. Three new exhibits have opened at the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture and will remain on display through late January.
Photo collections “From the Front to the Plains” and “Scotland” feature works by Montana Panoramic’s Craig Hergert and Highlander Photography’s Mark MacLeod, respectively. The annual “Celebration of the Arts Exhibit” showcases the work of numerous mixed-media artists from around the region.
“From the Front to the Plains” will be on display in the Weaver Room Gallery through January 31st. Since 1997, Craig Hergert has been photographing the vast landscapes, mountain ranges, rivers, parks, towns, wildlife, hunting and fishing from all over the great state of Montana. Montana Panoramic has grown to thousands of images, and continues to grow each day. Hergert’s work is currently on display in several art galleries and businesses throughout the Treasure State, including his Bozeman studio and gallery, and in private collections all over the world.
The Lobby Gallery will host “Scotland” through January 24th. To compliment the Celebration of the Arts’ cultural theme for 2020, ‘Scotland,’ the Emerson is exhibiting work by local photographer and ancestral Scotsman, Mark MacLeod. His months-long pilgrimage back to the motherland to visit the home of his grandparents was the trip of a lifetime. MacLeod took hundreds of images that are not only visually stunning but captured the personal, heartfelt connection he has with this country.
Finally, in the Jessie Wilber Gallery, “Celebration of the Arts” is also on display through January 24th. This juried group show is a collection of work by local artists who generously donated to the Emerson’s annual fundraiser, the Celebration of the Arts. Take a sneak peek at these amazing original creations available for silent auction through the night of the event, Jan. 24th. Take home an original piece of art you will cherish for a lifetime while supporting local artists and the Emerson in the process!
Year after year, this celebratory exhibit features the assorted works by some of the area’s most talented artists. On display for the 2020 event are: Chris Autio, Carol Barmore, Joanne Berghold, June Billings Safford, Laura Blue Palmer, Kathy Burk, Shakinah Brzezinski, Todd Connor, Roger Cruwys, Josh DeWeese, Jim Dick, Kelsey Dzintars, Scott Fabritz, Craig Hergert, Jim Howard, Justin Hsu, Kirstin Kainz, Marsha Karle, Duncan Kippen, Tara Moore, Darla Myers, Mike O’Connell, Kara Tripp, Marcia Wendel and Rod Zullo.
