ELM stage features national talent, a Montana-born staple
Though cancellations and postponements are still plaguing our live music scene, bookers at the ELM continue to bring local and national acts to its state of the art venue in midtown Bozeman. Here’s a look at a few of the upcoming happenings.
Led Zeppelin tribute Zoso is back in Bozeman on Feb. 18th. The show starts at 8pm. Advance tickets are $25.
Zoso embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit, tightly wound talent and authenticity. Their live shows are not about simply playing the right notes, they are about aura and feeling, harkening back to the unique atmosphere Led Zeppelin created. It’s in the way they play: each band member’s mastery of authentic vintage instruments, coupled with spot on vocals, guitar, bass, drums and keyboards, their compelling stage persona, and distinct Led Zeppelin sound, with astounding visual imagery recreates the music, magic and mystery of a Zeppelin concert.
The Montana-born Lil Smokies follow with help from Esther Rose on Feb. 19th. The lights dim at 8pm. Advance tickets range $25–$30.
Drawing on the energy of a rock band and the Laurel Canyon songwriting of the ‘70s, the Smokies reimagined their approach to roots music on Tornillo, the band’s third studio album, named for the remote Texas town where it was recorded. Formed in Missoula, Lil Smokies have built a national following through constant touring with performances at Red Rocks, Telluride and more.
Making a pit stop in Bozeman after their hiatus from the road, Drive-By Truckers are set to perform Feb. 22nd. The Ryley Walker-assisted show begins at 8pm. Advance tickets range $25–$30.
The band had just released its 12th studio album The Unraveling before the pandemic halted all touring plans. Its nine songs detailing the horrific state of MAGA America with lyrics that addressed white supremacy, school shootings and the opioid crisis. Lockdown saw the band’s members releasing solo material but also led to new DBT music released on their recent compilation The New OK. The band is working on their next full-length and plans to premiere their latest creations on this long-awaited tour.
