ELM features packed calendar of melodic live performance
Hot sunny season days call for a cool-down indoors with some fantastic live music as the ELM continues to bring touring artists from the national stage to Bozeman. Take a look at these upcoming shows and plan your outings accordingly.
Genre-bending indie artist mike. performs July 9th. The music begins at 8pm with opener Skeez and advance tickets range $35–$50.
mike.’s music doesn’t fit a genre. In an effort to make something completely unique to him, he combines his love for catchy melodies and feel-good song writing with hip-hop lyricism and modern bounces to make something both nostalgic and new at the same time. His debut album, the highs, is out now.
Daniel Rodriguez warms up the crowd for an always anticipated performance by Gregory Alan Isakov on July 11th. The show starts at 8pm. See venue website for ticketing details.
The horticulturist-turned-musician has cast an impressive presence on the indie-rock and folk worlds with his acclaimed discography. Isakov tours internationally with his band, and has performed with several national symphony orchestras across the country. In addition to owning his own independent record label, he also manages a small Colorado farm which provides produce to its CSA members and local restaurants.
The Melvins bring their “Electric Roach Tour” to Bozeman on July 14th. Helms Alee and Harsh Mellow join for support with the music starting at 8pm. Advance tickets range $30–$40.
One of modern music’s most influential bands, the group has been credited with merging the worlds of punk rock and heavy music to form a subgenre all its own. Over their nearly 40-year history, the band has released dozens of original albums, live full-lengths, singles and other rarities. Their expansive acoustic collection, Five Legged Dog, is available now.
Stopping by on July 21st is the Old Crow Medicine Show as part of their “Paint This Town Tour” with help from Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway. The music kicks off at 8pm and advance tickets range $45–$60.
The group got their start busking on street corners in the late ‘90s, from New York state and up through Canada, winning audiences along the way with their boundless energy and spirit. They eventually found themselves in Boone, North Carolina where they caught the attention of folk icon Doc Watson while playing in front of a pharmacy. He invited the band to play at his festival, MerleFest, and the rest is history. Their new album, Paint This Town, released in April.
Immerse in the rhythmic vibrance of MarchFourth on July 22nd. The show begins at 8pm. Advance tickets range $25–$25. Tickets purchased for the postponed spring show will be honored.
MarchFourth is a joy-inducing force of entertainment. The colorful explosion of brassy funk, rock, and jazz is all about the groove. With exceptional musical quality and a visual kaleidoscope of performers, the group is a spectacle of high-energy compositions, colorful costumes and irresistible charisma. Their most recent album, Magic Number, features captivating grooves and brassy swagger listeners would expect, plus a healthy dose of New Orleans magic.
Veteran singer/songwriter Martin Sexton returns to Southwest Montana with a seated performance on July 28th at 8pm. Advance tickets range $35–$50.
Rolling Stone has compared his “soul marinated voice” to the likes of Steve Winwood and Van Morrison. Sexton has collaborated with artists such as John Mayer and Peter Frampton, and his songs have been featured in many films and hit television series. “The real thing, people, a star with potential to permanently affect the musical landscape and keep us entertained for years to come,” wrote a reviewer for Billboard. His latest release, 2020 Vision, is out now.
