ELM entertains with spare-no-genre concerts this month
Concertgoing is experiencing a return to form after the latest strain put many shows and tour plans on ice. The ELM will pack its midtown stage this month with acts bringing their winter tours through Bozeman, as well as one or area groups to represent the local scene.
Pandemic-born project G. Love & the Juice perform on March 9th at 8pm. Advance tickets range $35–$40.
After 27 years of coast to coast touring, the global pandemic grounded touring juggernaut G. Love & Special Sauce. With band members sheltered in place and scattered across the country and G. Love’s ever-pressing need to release creative juices bore a collaborative and experimental musical group. G. Love & The Juice is that new mosaic, drawing from his signature hip-hop blues he invited seasoned touring musicians who shared in this vision to deliver a musical experience which includes classic G. Love songs, improvisation jams and the low-down dirty blues which has been a hallmark of Garrett Dutton shows since the 1990s.

The “Long Time Coming Tour” fronted by songstress Sierra Ferrell comes to Bozeman on March 15th. The show features support by Nick Shoulders and begins at 8pm. Advance tickets are $18.
With her spellbinding voice and time-bending sensibilities, Ferrell makes music that’s as fantastically vagabond as the artist herself. On her highly anticipated label debut Long Time Coming, Ferrell shares a dozen songs beautifully unbound by genre or era, instantly transporting her audience to an infinitely more enchanted world. In sculpting the album’s chameleonic sound, Ferrell joined forces with a knockout lineup of guest musicians (including Jerry Douglas, Tim O’Brien, Chris Scruggs, Sarah Jarosz, Billy Strings and Dennis Crouch), adding entirely new texture to each of her gracefully crafted and undeniably heartfelt songs.
One of Southwest Montana’s favorite tributes, The Waiting, takes the stage on March 19th. The music starts at 8pm. Advance tickets range $20–$25.
The Bozeman-based roadhouse rock n’ roll band celebrates the music of Tom Petty. Expect a blend of his smash hits with the Heartbreakers, a sampling from his solo albums, and even some of his collaborations with the Traveling Wilburys, delivered with fiery live energy.
Brothers Comatose return to the Gallatin Valley with a March 22nd show. TK & the Holy Know-Nothings kick off the show at 8pm. Advance tickets are $18.
Whether traveling to gigs on horseback or by tour bus, Americana mavens Brothers Comatose forge their own path with raucous West Coast renderings of traditional bluegrass, country and rock n’ roll music. The five-piece string band is anything but a traditional acoustic outfit with their fierce musicianship and rowdy, rock concert-like shows. The band is back in the studio recording its follow-up to last summer’s Ink, Dust & Luck.
Catch Fruit Bats with a live show on March 23rd. Music starts at 8pm. Advance tickets are $25.
The Pet Parade is the eighth studio album from Eric D. Johnson’s beloved indie folk-rock project. At times upbeat and reassuring (“Eagles Below Us”) and at times quietly contemplative (“On the Avalon Stairs”), the collection marks a milestone for Johnson, who celebrated 20 years of Fruit Bats in 2021. In some ways still a cult band, in other ways a time-tested act, the group has consistently earned enough small victories to carve out a career in a notoriously fickle scene.
Immerse in the rhythmic vibrance of MarchFourth on March 25th. The show begins at 8pm. Advance tickets range $25–$30.
MarchFourth is a joy-inducing force of entertainment. The colorful explosion of brassy funk, rock, and jazz is all about the groove. With exceptional musical quality and a visual kaleidoscope of performers, the group is a spectacle of high-energy compositions, colorful costumes and irresistible charisma. Their most recent album, Magic Number, features captivating grooves and brassy swagger listeners would expect, plus a healthy dose of New Orleans magic.
Hip-hop artist OHGEESY performs on March 26th. Opening acts include DJ Vision, That Mexican OT and Young Hawaii for the 8pm show. Advance tickets are $22.
Moving like a chess player, OHGEESY maneuvers through hip-hop with clear intention, knowing exactly where he wants to go and how he’ll get there. The Los Angeles-based artist asserts himself as an impactful and inimitable solo presence on the mic. His deft wordplay, head-nodding hooks, and undeniable swagger fuel his 2021 full-length debut GEEZYWORLD, kickstarted by lead single “Get Fly” with DaBaby.
