ELM acts bring the noise with late spring concerts
Midtown has a new hotspot. State of the art live music venue The ELM continues to bring touring artists from the national stage to Bozeman this spring and summer. Take a look at these upcoming shows and plan your outings accordingly.
On May 3rd, chillwave electronic artist Tycho performs. The music begins at 8pm and advance tickets start at $35.
Scott Hansen, the man behind the name, blends swirling melodies into vaguely triumphant arcs that crisscross between stuttering beats and vocal samples, creating rolling sonic landscapes that extend into the horizon. Known in the design world as ISO50, the San Francisco-based artist is famed for his warm, textured design style, which serves as a backdrop and mirror for his musical output. Recent single “Only Love” with Benjamin Gibbard adds to his catalog which includes albums Dive and Awake.

Bozeman’s own Dead Sky follow on May 8th in celebration of the 45th anniversary of Cornell ‘77. Music starts at 8pm and advance tickets are $15.
The local Grateful Dead tribute features members of Pinky & the Floyd, MOTH, Kelly Nicholson Band, Hooligans, Dead Yellers, SlomoJoe and more.
World-traveling electronic project Black Tiger Sex Machine take the stage on May 13th. The show begins at 8pm with opening acts Kai Wachi, Vampa and Hairitage. Advance tickets range $30–$40.
The Canadian trio is known for its dynamic rage-ready style, an explosive blend of heavy electro and bass. Their show is a unique experience that strikes the perfect balance between a live performance and a DJ set. Along with their music, their signature Tiger helmets and their apocalyptic Kannibalen world have attracted legions of faithful followers called the BTSM Church. Their new album Once Upon a Time in Cyberworld released in January.
Indie country star Aaron Watson is next up on May 14th. The Bozeman-based Road Agents open at 8pm. Advance tickets range $25–$32.
For the past 20 years, Watson has achieved success on his own terms, hand-building a lauded career through songwriting, relentless touring and more than a dozen self-released albums. His independent Texas spirit and strong work ethic are emblematic of the western lifestyle; virtues which have taken him from humble honky-tonks of Texas to multiple sold-out tours around the world. His new album Unwanted Man releases next month.
Alternative artist Citizen Cope brings his anniversary tour celebrating 20 years of music on May 18th. The show begins at 8pm with advance tickets ranging $36–$56.
Citizen Cope aka Clarence Greenwood is an American songwriter/producer inspired by artists like John Lennon and Stevie Wonder to Bob Marley and Outkast. His compositions have been recorded by Carlos Santana, Dido and Richie Havens. In 20 years of touring, he has built a devout following, performing at sold-out theaters and ballrooms across the country. Over time, Cope’s music has become the soundtrack to the lives of those who have embraced it and he continues to inspire audiences through what can only be described as a deep personal connection. His latest release, The Pull of Niagara Falls, is available now.
Micky & the Motorcars warm up the crowd for Reckless Kelly on May 20th. The show starts at 8pm with advance tickets ranging $27–$35.

Veteran touring band 311 bring their spring tour with Teenage Wrist to Bozeman on May 25th. The show starts at 8pm with advance tickets ranging $45–$65.
Widely regarded as one of the most entertaining and dynamic live bands in the country, 311 mixes rock, rap, reggae and funk into their own unique, hybrid sound.
