Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre will present a number of upcoming film screenings of the classic and family favorite variety this month. Gather friends and loved ones for some popcorn and the following endearing titles.
Harrison Ford stars in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, screening on Saturday, March 2nd at 7:30pm. An intrepid archaeologist tries to beat a band of Nazis to a unique religious relic which is central to their plans for world domination. Battling against a snake phobia and a vengeful ex-girlfriend, Indiana Jones (Ford) is in constant peril, making hair’s-breadth escapes at every turn in this celebration of the innocent adventure movies of an earlier era. All seats are only $7.
A Pirates of the Caribbean Trivia Night follows on Friday, March 8th. Questionnaires will be available in the lobby one hour before the 7:30pm screening. Capt. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) arrives at Port Royal in the Caribbean without a ship or crew. His timing is inopportune, however, because later that evening the town is besieged by a pirate ship. The pirates kidnap the governor’s daughter, Elizabeth (Keira Knightley), who’s in possession of a valuable coin that is linked to a curse that has transformed the pirates into the undead. A gallant blacksmith (Orlando Bloom) in love with Elizabeth allies with Sparrow in pursuit of the pirates. All seats are $7.
Enjoy a Sunday matinee featuring The LEGO Movie on March 10th at 3pm. Emmet (Chris Pratt), an ordinary LEGO figurine who always follows the rules, is mistakenly identified as the Special – an extraordinary being and the key to saving the world. He finds himself drafted into a fellowship of strangers who are on a mission to stop an evil tyrant’s (Will Ferrell) plans to conquer the world. Unfortunately for Emmet, he is hopelessly – and hilariously – unprepared for such a task, but he’ll give it his all nonetheless. All seats are $6.
The following weekend features a showing of classic comedy film Modern Times starring Charlie Chaplin. It will screen on Saturday, March 16th at 7:30pm. This comedic masterpiece finds the iconic Little Tramp (Chaplin) employed at a state-of-the-art factory where the inescapable machinery completely overwhelms him, and where various mishaps keep getting him sent to prison. In between his various jail stints, he meets and befriends an orphan girl (Paulette Goddard). Both together and apart, they try to contend with the difficulties of modern life, with the Tramp working as a waiter and eventually a performer. All seats are $7.
Late this month, The Muppet Movie hits the big screen with another Sunday matinee on March 24th at 3pm. After Kermit the Frog decides to pursue a movie career, he starts his cross-country trip from Florida to California. Along the way, he meets and befriends Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and rock musicians Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. When Kermit is offered a job by Doc Hopper (Charles Durning) to advertise the fried frog legs at his restaurant chain, Kermit turns Hopper down. However, Hopper refuses to relent and pursues Kermit and his companions to a final showdown. All seats are $6.
