Host to stage and screen entertainment of all varieties, Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre is also a great place to catch a show by touring musical acts. Next up is a duo show featuring Bozeman’s own Dirt Farmers and Admiral Radio, visiting the Gallatin Valley from South Carolina. The concert will be held on Friday, November 10th, with the music set to begin at 7:30pm. All seats are $26.
A burgeoning, upbeat, high-energy, blue-to-paisley-grass, foot-stomping string band, the Dirt Farmers have gained a following for their fun-loving mix of old-school country, bluegrass, blues and rock, with the occasional slip into hip-hop. The band members, as unique as their song list, serve it all up with a smile on mandolin, banjo, guitar, fiddle and bass with vocal harmonies.
Stand-out guitarist/vocalist Kelly Hagerman fronts the band with Nate Fortier or Ryan Totman on mandolin, Bill Devine on dobro/pedal steel, Chuck Swenson on banjo, Hans Swenson on fiddle and Suzanne Ford on doghouse bass. Fortier and Hagerman write original tunes that invite you to be “Having a Good Time” and experience the flavor and fun of Montana life.
Duo Admiral Radio has created a timeless style and classic sound that speaks for itself. In an age where adding mechanized bells and whistles are the norm, the band opts for a more natural feel by getting back to the basics of good songwriting and music with heart.
Becca Smith is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. She grew up in a musical home and, as legend has it, she sang in the crib as a baby. Smith began playing guitar by the time she was 10 and began her journey as a songwriter. After college, she released her self-produced debut album, entitled I-26, in 2018. She was also awarded Charleston City Paper’s “Best Singer-Songwriter” that year.
Coty Hoover grew up in the rolling hills of Lake Wylie in upstate South Carolina. Inspired by his Paw Paw, he picked up the guitar and taught himself how to play in his high school years. A Renaissance man, Hoover has expanded his musical abilities to reach a variety of instruments.
Wine, beer and concessions will be sold in the lobby one hour before the show. Ticketing and further information about other upcoming happenings is available at www.theellentheatre.org. For additional inquiries, call the box office at (406) 585-5885. •
