Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre will present a number of upcoming film screenings of the classic and family favorite variety this month. Gather friends and loved ones for some popcorn and the following endearing titles.
First up, enjoy the arctic animation of Ice Age on Sunday, October 6th at 2pm. Twenty-thousand years ago, Earth is a wondrous, prehistoric world filled with great danger, not the least of which is the beginning of the Ice Age. To avoid a really bad frostbite, the planet’s majestic creatures – and a few small, slothful ones – begin migrating south. The story revolves around sub-zero heroes: a woolly mammoth, a saber-toothed tiger, a sloth and a prehistoric combination of a squirrel and rat that is known as Scrat.
Following on Sunday, Oct. 13th, baseball family favorite The Sandlot screens at 2pm. It’s the early 1960s and 5th-grader Scotty Smalls has just moved into town with his folks. Kids call him a dork – he can’t even throw a baseball! But that changes when the leader of the neighborhood gang recruits him to play on the nearby sandlot field. It’s the beginning of a magical summer of baseball, wild adventures, first kisses and fearsome confrontations with the dreaded Beast and its owner who live behind the left field fence in this hilarious and warmhearted comedy.
Another animated family flick takes flight at 2pm on Sunday, Oct. 20th with Migration. A family of ducks decides to leave the safety of a New England pond for an adventurous trip to Jamaica. However, their well-laid plans quickly go awry when they get lost and wind up in New York City. The experience soon inspires them to expand their horizons, open themselves up to new friends, and accomplish more than they ever thought possible.
Also at the Ellen in the coming weeks: take part in a Frozen Sing-Along at 2pm on Oct. 27th, or enjoy screenings of the original Star Wars trilogy on Oct. 12th, 19th and Nov. 9th, all starting at 7:30pm. These are ticketed events. See host website for additional details.
Concessions will be sold in the lobby one hour before each event. Ticketing and further information about these and other upcoming happenings is available at www.theellentheatre.org. For additional inquiries, call the box office at (406) 585-5885. •
