A destination for entertainment of all varieties, Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre is also the perfect venue to catch a comedy show, musical acts and more. Here’s a look at who’s on the calendar.
Catch a night of laughs with comedian Todd Barry on Saturday, October. 4th. Fellow funnyman Chris Fairbanks will warm up the crowd at 8pm. All seats are $36.25.
Fairbanks opens the evening with his twisted take on life, something he dispenses regularly on Comedy Central as well as his popular podcast Do You Need a Ride?! Next up, Barry, a longtime staple of the late-night comedy circuit (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Conan, Late Night with Seth Meyers, David Letterman) as well as from various TV shows such as Flight of the Concords, Chappelle’s Show, Spin City and Sex and the City. Fans will also recognize Barry from one of four stand-up specials including the Netflix hit Spicy Honey and his latest release Domestic Shorthair.
Delve into Leaving a Mark: A Comedy About Scars on Friday, October 24th. Written and performed by Ophira Eisenberg, the one-woman show begins at 8pm. All seats are $29.75.
Raw, smart and occasionally wildly inappropriate (in the best way), Leaving a Mark is a hilariously visceral, deeply personal look at the scars – both literal and metaphorical – that shape us all. From childhood mishaps to near-fatal accidents, botched first loves and a battle with a health crisis, Eisenberg (NPR’s Ask Me Another) weaves together a survival tale that’s equal parts stand-up comedy and dynamic storytelling. This joyful celebration of imperfection is about resilience, humor in the face of pain, the messy/triumphant art of learning to love oneself, and ultimately, the absurdity of being human. Directed by Soren Kisiel, the performance is recommended for mature audiences.
Late this month, enjoy a night of brass instrumentals with acclaimed trumpeter Wayne Bergeron on Sunday, October 26th. The MSU One O’Clock Jazz Band will be on hand for the 7:30pm show. All seats are $19.25.
Love soaring, vibrant and electrifying trumpet? Bergeron, the acclaimed L.A. studio legend whose signature sound brings to life The Incredibles, Soul, Toy Story 3 and 4, as well as over 500 blockbuster film scores. Join for an unforgettable evening of dynamic jazz featuring this trumpet icon live in concert. Bergeron is a Yamaha Performing Artist and one of the most sought-after lead trumpet players in the industry – a true legend and master of his craft.
