Happy hour gets the lyrical twist at Downtown Bozeman’s Eagles Bar, featuring the very best talent the Valley has to offer with regular Wednesday acoustics and weekend jamming. Here’s a look at what’s happening in the coming weeks.
Local songwriter Peter King takes the stage June 7th. The Dead Yellers’ frontman gears his original lyrics around the human condition, love, war and self-control. His originals tell the story of honest, blue collar life in a small town. King’s influences range from the lonesome classic country sound to that of a DIY punk rock group.
The following weekend sees the return of Dilly Dilly on June 9th and 10th. The lively shows will feature a selection of your favorite rockin’ hits and plenty of room to dance.
Singer/songwriter Hannah Jo Lally shows off her talents on June 14th. From the back roads of Eastern Washington, enjoy an evening of country cuts and distinctive originals. She draws influence from the likes of Suzy Bogguss and Charley Pride, Waylon Jennings and Mary Chapin Carpenter, among others.
Enjoy the original country rock of Dead Yellers on June 16th and 17th. Founded by frontman Peter King, the music follows a theme of courage in the face of adversity, delivered in an upbeat, western roots format, ultimately leaving the audience feeling hopeful and happy. Sometimes joined by fiddle, pedal steel, bass and harmonica, this group always brings something unique to their performances.
Mario Miner Jr. of two-piece rock n’ roll project Gallatin Ghost Train performs on June 21st. Expect an evening of blues-skewing tunes and some original songs.
Act a fool to the trailer trash rock, country and Irish tunes of Ornery Jacks June 23rd and 24th. The foursome will have the audience on their feet until the cows come home.
Take in the acoustic stylings of local favorite Mathias on June 28th. With powerful vocals and a percussive guitar style, he’s known for his dynamic live performances full of acoustic folk, rock, and funk tunes.
A House DJ will be on hand June 30th and July 1st. There’s no better way to spend that paycheck than with a little bump n’ grind on the dance floor.
Take part in the Eagles’ weekly Bluegrass Jam Session on Monday nights. Take a seat and enjoy, or bring an instrument and join in! The event begins at 7pm.
Exercise your pipes with Karaoke Night sponsored by Bozeman’s Best Entertainment Group, setting up at FOE every Thursday. Sing your heart out and cheer on your friends! Sign-ups start at 9pm.
Make sure to check out Bridger Mountain Big Band on Sunday nights. The ensemble performs at 7pm. The 17-piece jazz orchestra celebrates the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie and more, with original arrangements and music of all genres from the 1900s to today. Check them out on Facebook for performance announcements.
Acoustic Wednesdays start at 8pm and weekend bands are on at 9pm. Head downtown for some great live music or stop in to support your local Eagles any night of the week. •
