On Sunday, November 5th, at the Museum of the Rockies, the Bozeman Doc Series continues its ninth season with the Montana premiere of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning documentary, The Eternal Memory. The screening begins at 7pm.
Augusto and Paulina have been together and in love for 25 years. Eight years ago, their lives were forever changed by Augusto’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. One of Chile’s most prominent cultural commentators and television presenters, Augusto now struggles to hold on to his identity with the help of his beloved Paulina, a famous actress and former Chilean Minister of Culture. Day by day, the couple face this challenge head-on, relying on the tender affection and sense of humor shared between them that remains, remarkably, fully intact. A profound and moving love story, The Eternal Memory balances vibrant individual and collective remembrance with the longevity of an unbreakable human bond. Directed by Oscar-nominated Maite Alberdi, the film world-premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival to widespread critical acclaim.
“Maite Alberdi brings us one of the most heartfelt renditions of life, love, and memory in recent years of cinema.” – The Chicago Reader
“What rings truest and richest about The Eternal Memory, as exquisitely humane a film as you’re likely to see all year, is what abiding love and stewardship look like in the moment.” – Los Angeles Times
Following on Sunday, November 19th, the Doc Series returns to MOR with the Montana premiere of the critically acclaimed new documentary, American Symphony. The screening begins at 7pm.
Early in 2022, multi-instrumentalist Jon Batiste finds himself the most celebrated artist of the year with eleven Grammy nominations including ‘Album of the Year.’ In the midst of that triumph, Jon is immersed in his most ambitious challenge yet: composing “American Symphony,” an original symphony that thrillingly reimagines the classical traditions of the form, bringing together an expansive and inclusive diaspora of music for a performance at storied Carnegie Hall. This extraordinary trajectory is upended, however, when Batiste’s life partner – best-selling author Suleika Jaouad – learns that her long dormant cancer has returned. In the moving and deeply intimate American Symphony, Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning director Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land, The First Wave, Retrograde) delivers a portrait of two inimitable artists at a crossroad and a profound meditation on art, love, and the creative process.
“A celebration of art, resilience and the mutability of the human spirit… joyful and emotionally resonant.” – The Hollywood Reporter
