Daniel Kosel, Triggers & Slips among Eagles entertainers downtown
Downtown Bozeman’s Eagles Bar is popular with folks from all walks of life. Not only a great spot for the happy hour crowd, FOE hosts weekly live music and karaoke. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.
Check out an acoustic set by Daniel Kosel on Wednesday, September 5th beginning at 7pm. Kosel is a Montana-based singer/songwriter and guitarist who performs originals from his albums Beartooth Stage and The Rain, plus a delicious bevy of covers. His emotionally intelligent poetry, soulful vocals, and pretty guitar stylings make a delightful listening experience best described as “Crues Music,” a self-styled blend of country, rock, and blues.
Kosel embraces musical influences including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dwight Yoakam, George Jones, Keith Whitley, Steve Wariner, Merle Haggard, Aretha Franklin, Rascal Flatts, Sammy Kershaw, AC/DC, Segovia, Tommy Emmanuel, Mariah Carey, Clint Black, Chet Atkins, Ozzy Osbourne, and Ronnie Milsap, plus many other great artists. Note: Daniel Kosel will return to the Eagles with his full band to rock the house Friday and Saturday, September 21st–22nd.
Country soul rock n’ rollers Triggers & Slips stop by the Eagles on Friday, September 7th. Morgan Snow is an American singer/songwriter living in the modern age who records his songs under the name ‘Triggers & Slips.’ The band’s music is steeped in the psychology of relationships, and like so much country music that came before, his originates in personal mistakes and a stepped-on heart. “Snow’s voice is pure soul,” with hints of familiarity, it’s haunting and powerful and with no comparison to pinpoint. It is the one thing you won’t forget. Some of his songs hurt, some make you laugh at him or yourself, but what’s shared after the show from night to night is a connection, a new relationship waiting to be revisited and rekindled time and time again.
Bozeman funk trio Holding For Hux is next up on Saturday, September 8th. The group plays a wide variety of groovy rock and funk tunes to keep things saucy for those who want to get out on the floor and boogie. Head down and check ‘em out!
Stephanie Yeager is back with another round of Wednesday night acoustics on September 12th at 7pm. With a gripping, emotive voice and guitar skills to match, Yeager’s songwriting makes you feel as though you’re on the most exciting road trip of your life. Her passionate folk songs draw from the influence of country, soul, gospel, indie-pop, and blues. From Alaska to Appalachia, to the beaches of south Texas, Yeager’s travels have brought her far and wide. These adventures are expressed beautifully in her latest album, Campfire Sessions, available now.
Country rockers Bluebelly Junction return Friday and Saturday, September 14th–15th. The group provides audiences with what they consider “rockabilly music” all over the state of Montana. The high-energy band tends to veer away from slow jams, other than the occasional tune. With an arsenal of originals and personalized covers, the guys will keep you on your feet until last call.
Bridger Mountain Big Band performs regularly on Sundays from 7–9:30pm. The 17-piece jazz orchestra celebrates the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and more, with original arrangements and music of all genres from the 1900s to today. Check them out on Facebook, @TheBridgerMountainBigBand, for performance announcements.
Always a blast, Sunrise Entertainment brings the fun of karaoke and DJ music every Thursday night. Come sing your heart out and maybe even do a dance number between songs. Liquid confidence available upon request.
Eagles Bar live music begins at 9pm, unless otherwise noted. Come play a game of pool, listen to some great local bands, or stop in for a cold one any day of the week! The Eagles is located at 316 E Main St., next to the Nova Café. For more information, call (406) 587-9996. •
