There’s always an opportunity to rock n’ groove out at the Filling Station, one of the area’s most consistent sources for live music and late night revelry. Their concerts showcase artists from a variety of genres, welcoming diverse audiences to the north Bozeman space with performances held throughout the week.
A night of the very best in regional metal kicks things off on May 2nd featuring Magazine Beach, Dank Crypt, Love Darts and Amiskelm. Enjoy the pop punk, black metal and rock courtesy of these ensembles from Washington, D.C. and right here in the Treasure State.
Mountain Standard Time performs with help from Mint on May the Fourth. The band specializes in making audiences groove and jam. Playing a show comprised of covers and some originals sprinkled throughout, this four-piece group blends psychedelic rock with some groovy licks, creating an amazing performance for all to experience.
Electric River presents Mixtape with opening support by Hornbread during a special Cinco de Mayo on May 5th. New to the scene, the local all-star band is ready to rock your socks off with their mixture of dreamy disco-pop melted in with Southern country-rock. This band features Madeline Hawthorne (vocals, guitar), Joe Kirchner and Tyler Schultz from Pink & the Floyd (keys, organ), Brett Goodell from M.O.T.H. and Dead Sky and Sean Lehmann laying down some funky bass grooves.
Dylan Thomas Band makes it Filler debut on May 6th with help from Gallatin Ghost Train. Head down and support this punk rock artist as he performs an energetic set alongside a group of talented local instrumentalists.

Providing the live entertainment on May 7th is the Addison Lea Thompson Band and opener Spike Coggins. Addison possesses a distinctive sound based in traditional country and honky tonk, as well as a driving rock sound all his own, keeping toes tapping and hearts feeling. He incorporates a unique perspective of being a cowboy and living in the Rocky Mountains into every song, bringing a heavy hitting rocking style to the stage. His background of country, blues and rock influence his songwriting.
Sausalito Ferry performs alongside Squirrel Gravy on May 11th. Settle in for a night of greasy improvisational blues, rock, funk and beyond with this local Bozeman band.
Conductor is back to take over the Filler stage on May 12th. Bubba Fett and Rocky Fall are set to open. The avant-rock trio is based in Bozeman, with each member contributing to the songwriting and mixture of blues and punk. With influences from Jimi Hendrix to the Meat Puppets, these eclectic rockers have a reputation for igniting mosh pits. Catch them live to hear a sonic blend of stoner rock and art punk.
Tyler James presents The Broken Arrows on May 13th. The band will celebrate the music of Neil Young and Crazy Horse during this special tribute performance.
Following on May 18th are Apollo Suns with openers Transcendental Express. Born from the fusing of nine Winnipeg-based musicians, Apollo Suns have created a refreshing and innovative sound combining instrumental, jazz, rock and psychedelic music. They were awarded “Instrumental Artist of the Year” at the Western Canadian Music Awards.
Ben Larson & the Grown Ass Men entertain on May 20th with Peter King opening the show. Playing a roiling mix of old time country, rubber-necking bluegrass covers and giggle-worthy originals, this band will keep audiences grooving until way past their bedtime. Sing-alongs, blistering banjo solos and four-part harmonies will have the audience twisting their ear horns and politely asking for more.
Dave Hollier presents King Ropes alongside Los Toms and Gooch Slam on May 21st. Deemed as “psychedelic hard country garage roots rock,” King Ropes spans a wide variety of genres with their atmospheric guitar, groovy drum beats, and rock vocals with a little bit of twang. Their sound has been compared to that of The Pixies and Wilco.
Mirage Electric opens for a May 25th performance by Strumbucket. The five-piece twang/funk band from Jackson, Wyoming, are known for their colorful multi-genre live shows. Drawing from a wide range of sounds, their original music weaves together funked bass grooves, banjo driven twang, latin beats, electro-psych synth lines, and classic rock guitar. Strumbucket is influenced by the likes of The Meters, Little Feat and one non-mainstream band for which they’re known to cover frequently, Ween.
StiLGONE bring down the house on May 26th with opening support by Conductor and Art & Funk Collective. The band’s roots are heavily steeped in soul and funk, with a dose of hip-hop. The latest iteration – influenced by frontman Symon Palmer’s evolving listening tastes and metal, rock and jam band leanings from bassist Carl Hansen and guitarist Chris Cowan – is heavier. The band also features the talents of Cal Treadway (keys), Matt Sloan (sax) and Ezra Bowman (drums).
Closing out another month of shows on May 27th is Jazz Cabbage. New to the local scene, the jazz-funk fusion ensemble puts on one helluva show. Come check them out!
