Gallatin Valley Earth Day kicks off its annual event series preceding the spring festival with a presentation by retired MSU Ecology professor Sharon Eversman. “Trees Talk to Each Other??” is set for Thursday, January 11th, at 6:30pm. It will be held in the Community Room at Bozeman Public Library.
Have you heard that trees “talk” with each other? Join for this presentation to learn about the latest research that supports the hypothesis that trees and other plants communicate with each other. The event is free and open to the public.
Eversman taught biology, general botany and plant anatomy in the Department of Ecology at MSU for nearly 40 years. Her primary research interest was in lichens. She worked in the national forests of Montana, from the southeastern Ponderosa pine to the northwestern cedar forests, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, and forests in other states. She holds an M.S. degree in plant ecology from MSU and a Ph.D. from Arizona State University.
Eversman’s talk with also be presented virtually for those who cannot attend. Find a registration link and additional event information at www.gallatinvalleyearthday.org. Details about other upcoming talks will be available through the website leading up to the April 20th festival.
