The Bozeman Color Me Fun 5k run/walk is set for Saturday, October 8th beginning at 10AM. Hosted by the Hyalite Elementary PAC, Bozeman Running Company, PLAYFWD, and The Ridge Athletic Club, the goal is to raise money for many Bozeman area schools in one event. A shorter 3k (1.5 miles) option is available along the 5k route.
Color runs have exploded in popularity since their debut five years ago. A color run is an untimed run/walk that emphasizes fun over competition. Participants begin dressed in clean white t-shirts, and pass through color stations at intervals along the course. At each station, volunteers toss non-toxic, FDA approved colored cornstarch on participants as they pass through. Last year, the first year of the Bozeman run, over 800 participants got their color on, and 21 area schools benefited.
The run/walk will be held in the neighborhood around the Ridge and Hyalite Elementary, with color stations along the way, and a color celebration at the end. XL Country’s Dave Wooten will be live on-site. The run is open to everyone from first time runners, to families and seasoned runners. Costumes are welcome!
Participants can register online at www.racemontana.com/. Registration fees are $40 for adults and $20 for children. This will be available through the morning of the run, though t-shirts are not guaranteed for late registrants. For more information, please visit www.BozemanColorMeFun.com/.
For participants who register as a family (at least one adult and one child), Hyalite’s PAC will donate $10 to the elementary school of their choice. The first 20 families to register from each school receive a matching $10 for their school from the Run’s sponsors. 100% of the proceeds will go back into the community, in support of Bozeman kids and schools.
Color Me Fun is being organized by the Hyalite PAC. Hyalite’s mission is to partner with our school and community to enrich and enhance our children’s educational experience, by providing experiences which supplement and enhance teacher and staff efforts through presenters, outside instructors, events/outings, facility enhancements, extra-curricular activities, community events, teacher/staff support, and appreciation. •
