Fun and learning come standard at the Children’s Museum of Bozeman, and the fall event calendar is bursting with activities for area youth. Here’s a look at some of the upcoming happenings.
In collaboration with MOR and the Bozeman Library, head down to CMB for its portion of National Fossil Day events on Wednesday, October 17th from noon–3pm. Geologist Bill MacBride will be onsite alongside Rocky Rex. Later on, enjoy a special Open Lab from 5–7pm with dinosaur-themed 3D printing and more! These events are included with CMB admission.
The back half of the month will see three Family Science Days for inquisitive kids. First up on Thursday, October 18th is It’s Not Magic: It’s Science. You won’t believe your eyes! Witness some of the most extreme science experiments and learn what makes the science seem like magic. Scrap Robots follows on Friday, October 19th. This edition will feature tools and materials galore in the Maker Place for building your next robot creation. Closing out the month is Spooky Science on Wednesday, October 31st. Join for Halloween science and crafts, and be sure to wear your costume for a special spooky treat! These all ages events run from 10am–12pm and are included with museum membership or admission.
On Saturday, October 20th, the Children’s Museum will host An Evening in Science. The adult science fair will take place at Riverside Country Club beginning at 6:30pm. The evening will feature some of the coolest tech happenings in Bozeman by professionals, MSU departments and local students all to introduce our community to informal learning and exploratory play as a means for creativity and critical thinking – the foundations of student prep for a STEM career. Several companies will showcase their work along with other fun activities that we feature at the museum and more! Tickets are $65 or $130 per couple with sponsorships available. Log on to the Children’s Museum website to purchase.
Also at the Children’s Museum… Open STEAMlab Hours with events recurring weekly. Connect with Bozeman’s community of youth makers. All available tools will be at your disposal with Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, 3D printers, and more – plus, a resident expert on-hand to help out. Open lab hours take place Mondays from 3–5pm, Tuesdays from 4–7pm, and Fridays from 10am–noon.
The innovative STEAMlab program offers personally relevant project-based learning opportunities to kids with the aim of bolstering interest and expertise in 21st century skills. Come enjoy the STEAMlab as part of your museum experience. Included with membership or admission.
Located at 202 S Willson Ave., the Children’s Museum offers hands-on exhibits, science camps, after-school activities, and educational programs throughout the year.
