Chico Saloon returns to form with barn-burning weekend bands
Live music has returned to the informal dancehall that is the Chico Hot Springs Saloon! A local getaway, the resort is ideal for weekend escapes with live entertainment every weekend. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.
The zestful blend of blues rock, soul and reggae kicks things off when Shortchange take the stage September 3rd and 4th. Cut up the long-dormant dance floor and welcome back one of Southwest Montana’s favorite late night venues.
Tsunami Funk set up for a pair of lively performances on Sept. 17th and 18th. The Bozeman-favorite group always packs the dance floor with Funk/R&B-rocking grooves. Tsunami Funk plays tunes from artists like Stevie Wonder, Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars, Red Hot Chili Peppers, James Brown, Earth Wind & Fire, Sly & the Family Stone, Kool & the Gang, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Bob Marley, and many more!
The following weekend, Sept. 24th and 25th, Ian Thomas & Band of Drifters take over the Saloon. The group plays modern American roots music and encourage audiences to dance. Based mostly in Montana and Tennessee, the band also includes players from all over the country, keeping the music varied in arrangement, instrumentation, and regional influences. The Drifters’ sets draw from country, folk and blues traditions with an emphasis on original songs, done in the old style.
Looking to a new month, Brickhouse Band brings the live entertainment October 1st and 2nd. The Billings-based performers will be sure to pack the dance floor with rockin’ crowd favorites and other jams. Grab a drink from the bar and boogie down!
Live Saloon music begins at 9pm. Chico Hot Springs is located in Pray, 20 miles south of Livingston. Come sip, soak and swing! For more information, visit www.chicohotsprings.com. •
