Charles Ellsworth, Tom Catmull on deck for Hot Springs sets

Even with the warmer days and spring afoot, evenings are still chilly in ole Southwest Montana. The cool temps call for a nice soak in the rejuvenative natural pools at Bozeman Hot Springs. A destination for locals and their families, the venue is also home to “Bozeman Unplugged,” a fantastic regional music series live from the pool-adjacent stage on regular Thursday and Sunday nights beginning at 7pm. Here’s a look at who’s set to perform.
First up, singer/songwriter Nathan North brings his acoustic one-man-band show to the stage on Thursday, April 4th. While his performance is primarily composed of guitars and vocals, it comes with a twist. North uses his “loop” pedal paired with his acoustic guitar to create a full sound like that of an entire band. With a repertoire of originals and covers ranging from songs you can dance to, to songs that are easy to sit and chill to, North makes one man feel like four to create a musical extravaganza of larger-than-life sounds with a guitar mastery and soulful voices that prove truly mesmerizing for the audience.
On Sunday, April 7th, Charles Ellsworth Band visits the Hot Springs. The Arizona-born, Brooklyn-based tunesmith has been playing his brand of bluesy Americana country music all over the map for many years. With music that’s been referred to as “a triumph for American songwriting blending outlaw grit with a raw streak of self-awareness,” Ellsworth is praised wherever he goes. Playing with a trio, his acoustic sound will be accompanied by drums and a bass making this a can’t-miss performance for any country fan.
Following on Thursday, April 11th, Bozeman-based Sundance & the Wilds bring an indie rock sound that’ll make anyone listening want to groove. With their indie-rock stylings paired with some intense jam-style sessions, Sundance & the Wilds have been taking the Bozeman area by storm since 2017. This specific show is going to be split into two sets with the first set being an acoustic duo by two of the band’s members, with the second bringing a more rocking sound with the full band, creating something for relaxers and rockers alike.
Tom Catmull will round out another weekend on Sunday, April 14th. A hardened veteran of the Montana music community, he’s known around the state for turning little sounds into larger sounds. Playing a mixture of acoustic blues and rock with full band or solo shows, Catmull has made a name for himself with amazing performances people always want to witness again. Winning a plethora of “best artist” awards and being featured on TV shows such as 11th & Grant with Eric Funk, Catmull has quite the track record to go with his incredible music stylings. Head out to hear this Montana legend take the stage!
