If this summer’s concert series has been any indication, Bridger Brewing’s Three Forks amphitheater is quickly earning its place among Southwest Montana’s favorite outdoor venues. The music continues in the coming weeks with four additional performances.
Next up is veteran touring group Reckless Kelly on Thursday, August 3rd. The show starts at 8pm. For decades, the band has graced the musical landscape with a high-powered form of Americana, equally rooted in raw passion, refined musicianship, and gritty authenticity. With the recent dual release of two albums – American Jackpot and American Girls – the Idaho-bred band presents a beautifully detailed portrait of their beloved country, turning their nuanced songwriting to its many glories and tragedies. While one batch of songs centers on slice-of-life storytelling and the other explores the complexities of human connection, the collective body of work unfolds with profound and often eye-opening attention to the subtleties of American life.
Austin’s Mike & the Moonpies follow with a Sunday, Aug. 13th show with opening support by Vandoliers. Music begins at 8pm. One to Grow On, the band’s eighth studio album, is a musical homecoming that returns the group to its roots as a working man’s country band. Layered with Telecaster twang, honky tonk harmonies and lyrics that highlight the Everyman’s struggle to remain optimistic during a 9-to-5 world, this is organic music for dance halls and car stereos – a soundtrack for the mid-week blues, shot through with weekend energy.
Local guitar heroes Pinky & the Floyd are back at Bridger with a first-ever, fan-voted summer show at 8pm on Friday, Aug. 18th. Known for their performances of full albums, Pinky and the Floyd have fronted some legendary theatrical productions including “The Wall,” “The Division Bell” and “3 Different Ones” featuring Animals, Darkside and Wish You Were Here. The upcoming Three Forks set will be determined by fan votes of their favorite songs, with a Top 20 countdown format for the show. Find the band on social media to cast yours!
Late this month, Kitchen Dwellers return to Southwest Montana with their 1000th show on Saturday, Aug. 26th at 7:30pm. The group has transcended traditional genre boundaries, blending virtuosic bluegrass wizardry with ecstatic rock and roll energy and adventurous psychedelia. Their latest studio album, Wise River, released last year.
