As the fall season approaches, local audiences have several opportunities to experience the national tours of some of the music industry’s brightest stars at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
First up, Southall is set for a Friday, September 12th, show as part of Alpha Gamma Rho’s annual Testy Fest. Music begins at 8pm with opener Colby Acuff.
Read Southall can sure turn a phrase. “This record is the gasoline for the love machine,” he says of his band’s new album, the exhilarating and self-titled Southall. The proud Oklahoma workingman isn’t exaggerating. The record sparks and burns with 11 crank-it-up songs that expertly combine country, rock & roll, and the dust and grit of the band’s native Red Dirt scene.
But there are also glimpses of hard rock and metal, along with easygoing back-porch vibes, the result of a drastic change in the way the group formerly known as the Read Southall Band now makes music: Every member of Southall brings lyrics, melodies, and even full songs to the table. “It’s the colors of different people with different influences making music,” Southall says. “I’ve always been confident in the talents and abilities of the guys onstage with me, and I want our fans to see and hear that too. That’s why we changed our name to Southall.”
Looking to next month, Cole Swindell brings his “Happy Hour Sad” tour to Bozeman on Saturday, October 4th. Opening support comes courtesy of Priscilla Block and Greylan James with the music set to begin at 7pm.
The multi-platinum-selling superstar who Rolling Stone has called a “proven hit-maker,” comes to Bozeman in support of his new album, Spanish Moss. The release includes his 13th No. 1 single “Forever to Me” where Country Now says “Cole Swindell pours his heart out,” and for which Today’s Country calls Swindell a “sophisticatedly talented songwriter” and “and in moments like this, we realize just how much he still has to offer with his penmanship and musicianship” and The Music Universe calls it an “emotion-filled song.”
Swindell has been releasing new music from the 21-song album, including new radio single “We Can Always Move On,” the album’s debut No. 1 single “Forever to Me,” as well as the digital-only releases of “Dale, Jr.,” “Bottom of It,” “Dirty Dancing,” “Spanish Moss,” “Kill a Prayer” and “One Day.”
