Runners, on your mark: foot races in Bozeman
It’s sunny, its hot and it’s time to break out those running shoes for a trio of summertime races! Here’s a look at what’s coming up!
First up is the Sweet Pea Run, a Bozeman running tradition, on Saturday, August 3rd. The 10k starts at 7:15am, the 5k at 7:25am. Presented by the Big Sky Wind Drinkers, this great community event is one of the oldest running races in Bozeman and offers something for everyone – from competitive runners to families looking for a little outdoor exercise. Both races start and finish on Main Street and offer a great way to see a slice of what Bozeman has to offer. The Run also offers a multitude of great prizes! Remember, please leave dogs at home and if you are bringing a stroller, please line up toward the back. Find registration and further information at www.runsignup.com.
Bozeman Running Company will present the next in its 5K Brew Run Series on Wednesday, August 14th. This edition will begin and end at Bridger Brewing. Check-in begins at 5:15pm prior to the race at 6pm. Enjoy a 5K run that takes you on a mix of road and the Main Street to the Mountains trail system, followed by a free pint at the finish line. Stick around for the raffles at 7:30pm (one free pair of running shoes and a growler + fill) and enjoy some tasty Bridger pizza. Cost is only $5 at the start of the race for those not pre-registered for the series. Cash only. The course will be marked. The race is stroller and dog-friendly (on-leash). The race course wraps around the scenic Gallatin County Regional Park on Bozeman’s west side. The race will start and finish in front of Bozeman Fire Station #3, 1705 Vaquero Pkwy. All racers will receive a custom t-shirt, gift bag and timing chip. Schnee’s will award prizes to the overall top three men and women finishers. To top it all off, every racer will be entered in a raffle with a chance to win other great prizes! Race registration is $35 through Aug. 11th. Please visit www.bozemanfirehouse5k.com to register and for further information. All proceeds will support the Benevolent Fund.
Immediately following the race, the annual “Fire in the Park” open house event will take place at Bozeman Fire Station #3. Free food, tours of the station and apparatus, and fun activities for kids are some of the things that’ll entertain. Racers and their families are encouraged to stick around for this fun event, as well.
