Bozeman Masters Swim Club offering free “Try Masters Swimming Days” for area adults
BOZEMAN, Mont.– Swimming attracted a lot of attention at this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio. To capture some of that interest, U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS), the governing body for adult swimming in the United States, held a nationwide “Try Masters Swimming Day” on August 15. Unfortunately for Bozeman-area swimmers, the Bozeman Swim Center was closed for maintenance on that day. To make up for it, the Bozeman Masters Swim Club is holding its own “Try Masters Swimming Days” through September 15, 2016. Swimmers aged 18 and older can swim with the club as many times as they want during this free trial period before they decide whether to become a paying member.
Swimming’s universally recognized health benefits include superior core strength, reduced stress, increased cardiovascular and respiratory health, improved flexibility, and much more. Its low-impact nature makes it truly a lifelong sport. Swimming with a group offers social benefits second to none, and, like most USMS programs, the Bozeman Masters Swim Club welcomes swimmers of all ability levels.
Bozeman Masters’ workouts are held indoors at the Bozeman Swim Center on Main Street (adjacent to the high school) Monday through Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Anyone interested in trying masters swimming can just show up at the pool and talk to the coach on deck. Questions can be directed to Coach Janelle at coach@bozemanmasters.org or 808-554-6815.
