Sandbox Giveaway returns to Bozeman at top of June
A local annual tradition! The Bozeman Kiwanis Club will again provide 75 children’s sandboxes, built by club members, and given to families free of charge, sand included! The sandboxes will be distributed on the south side of Gallatin County Regional Park off Oak Street (in the parking lot near the sledding hill), on two Saturdays: June 1st and 8th from 10am–2pm, and Thursday, June 6th, from 5–7pm.

Sandboxes encourage our children to get outside, while socializing and developing creative and constructive skill sets. The sandboxes are available on a first come, first serve basis, until all are distributed. It is very important to bring a vehicle that can accommodate the 5’ x 5’ boxes and over 1,000 pounds of sand. It is highly recommended that you protect your vehicle with a tarp or drop cloth for transporting, as the sand is loose. Pickup trucks or use of a trailer are the best ways to transport the boxes and sand. You may reserve a sandbox in advance for pickup by emailing heidipfeil@yahoo.com. Please include your name, phone number and which day you plan to pick up.
The Sandbox Project is one of many the Bozeman Kiwanis Club provides to give back to the community through various outreach programs. The sandboxes are made possible by the club with support from community donations. Other projects include: Eliminate, which through Kiwanis International has made great strides to eliminate maternal neonatal tetanus. Local support is also provided for Eagle Mount Camp Braveheart, Hope and the Holidays, Kids in Crisis Backpacks, Fix-Up Festival, playground equipment, building park pavilions, Thrive, and many others.
