The Bozeman Film Society continues it’s Jazz Series with a special evening of live music and film with Miles Ahead, on Saturday, June 18th at 7:00 pm at The Ellen Theatre. A wildly entertaining and moving exploration of one of 20th century music’s creative geniuses, Miles Davis, Miles Ahead features a career defining performance by Oscar nominee Don Cheadle in the title role. Cheadle’s bravura directorial debut is not a conventional bio-pic but rather a unique, no-holds barred portrait of a singular artist in crisis. “A jazzy and unconventional tribute to an American icon, “Miles Ahead” is quite a ride,” says St. Louis Post-Dispatch film critic Calvin Willson. Rated R. 100 minutes. 74% Rotten Tomotoes.
BFS presents Miles Ahead in conjunction with the Montana Jazz Collective, which opens the film with a 45 minute performance of Miles Davis’s “Kind of Blue.” The Montana Jazz Collective features Luca Rodoni on Trumpet, Ryan Matzinger on Alto Sax, Sam White on Tenor Sax, Bob Nell on Piano, Craig Hall on Bass, and Adam Greenberg on Drums.
Music starts at 7:00 pm, followed by 30 minutes intermission. Film begins at 8:30 pm. Tickets for this special evening of live music and film are $15/GA; $13.50/SR&ST (plus fees.) BFS passholders require 2 punches for this special event
