Baroque Music Montana will present “Gentle Plucks: Bach & Beyond” with a special local performance this month as part of its regional tour, reuniting friends from Juilliard. It will take place Thursday, February 26th, at Bozeman’s Cikan House. The intimate showcase begins at 7:30pm.
A charming and stylish virtuoso harpsichordist from Madrid shares character dance pieces by Spanish composers Cabezon, Cabanilles, and from the collection Flores de Musica of 1709, sonatas by Scarlatti and Bach’s French Suite in E-flat major. Bozeman-based Baroque violinist Carrie Krause joins for work by Bach including the Obligato Sonata in C minor as well as the gorgeous Cantabile from the G major Sonata.

Refreshments will be served. Ticketing reservations are highly recommended as seating is limited. This house concert is open to the public.
Admission for the Bozeman performance is $32 general or $5 for students. Additional performances will precede in Gardiner and Twin Bridges, with Miles City, Broadus and Shepherd shows to follow, Feb. 24th–March 1st. Ticketing information for the local concert, as well as other regional performances, is available at www.baroquemusicmontana.com.
Baroque Music Montana specializes in chamber music inspired by history. The musician roster rotates based on desired instrumentation for repertoire. Concerts are held in intimate spaces, for which the music was originally intended, and often on period instruments. Using historical instruments and referencing original manuscripts, iconography and historical writing fuels Baroque Music Montana’s commitment to the music and inspires fresh interpretation. Rather than recreating something old, the aim is to make each performance of this day, of this space, existing because of these musicians and this audience. •
