Baroque Music Montana will present Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with a pair of local performances this month as part of its regional tour. They will take place January 25th and 26th. The Saturday performance will be held at Livingston’s Holbrook United Methodist Church at 7:30pm, with a 4pm matinee to follow on Sunday at Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman.
Vivaldi’s Four Seasons are perhaps the most beloved, iconic instrumental works from the baroque period for their pictorial elements from nature and virtuosic fiery flare. Violinist Carrie Krause crafts her unique version, and a brilliant small orchestra shines in renditions of ensemble music of Bach & Vivaldi.
Additional participating artists include Jiyhe Sung and Pico Alt (violin), Brett Walfish (viola), Julia Slovarp (cello), Suzanne Ford (bass) and Julie Gosswiller (harpsichord).
Admission for these performances are $30 general or $5 for students. An additional performance will precede at Big Timber Lutheran Church on Jan. 24th. Ticketing information for the area concerts, as well as other regional performances, is available at www.baroquemusicmo
Baroque Music Montana specializes in chamber music inspired by history. The musician roster rotates based on desired instrumentation for repertoire. Concerts are held in intimate spaces, for which the music was originally intended, and often on period instruments. Using historical instruments and referencing original manuscripts, iconography and historical writing fuels Baroque Music Montana’s commitment to the music and inspires fresh interpretation. Rather than recreating something old, the aim is to make each performance of this day, of this space, existing because of these musicians and this audience. •
