The historic Rialto theater has reopened its doors in the heart of Downtown Bozeman. This brand new event venue promises to bring an exciting lineup of top-tier talent from around the country. Here’s a look at some of the upcoming happenings.
Check out Positive Altitude: A Celebration of Good featuring live entertainment by Jackson Thornburg and New Wave Time Trippers on Saturday, March 31st at 7:30pm. Tickets to this 18+ show are $20. Doors at 7:30pm.
In an attempt to combat the ills of this crazy thing called life, this celebration of general mountain gladness is presented by the Rialto in collaboration with the all-new Stay Glad Productions – the same local heroes who brought you Bomb Snow Media. In the spirit of all things good, a portion of the celebration’s proceeds will support the youth-inspiring nonprofit Bozeman Youth Empowerment (BYEP).
Happy-enthused artwork from local powerhouses will be on display for your visual pleasure in the Light Box Gallery as well as the sweet, sweet sounds (curated just for you) from local favorite Jackson Thornburg in the Burn Box. Montana’s own New Wave Time Trippers will also be on hand to send you flash-dancing back in time to the ‘80s, so come dressed in your best neon spandex or tight-rolled stone wash.
Join for an evening of supreme hip-hop with Wax, Mac Lethal, and Devin the Dude on Monday, April 2nd. Local acts TWIN RICHE$, Buckshot Killit, among others, will get the night started at 8:30pm. Tickets to this 18+ show are $20. Doors at 7:30pm.
Bilal performs on Friday, April 6th at 8pm. Tickets to this 21+ show are $27. Doors at 7pm.
If there was one R&B artist for whom the neo-soul categorization seemed limiting, it was Philadelphia native Bilal. None of his recordings resembled the sycophantic worship of soul artists who thrived in the ‘60 and ‘70s, and it wasn’t just because his voice – classically trained, capable of singing opera in seven languages – was so unique. While some inspirations were detectable, his recordings were wholly modern and became increasingly creative. Bilal’s genre-bending music is progressive while still having its roots placed firmly in the jazz traditions that originally inspired him. He is touring in continued support of his latest release, In Another Life.
Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons return to Southwest Montana with a show on Saturday, April 7th at 8:30pm. Tickets to this all ages show are $15. Doors at 7:30pm.
Joseph is a prolific and accomplished songwriter, writing hits for Widespread Panic and releasing 30 albums in his three-decade-plus career — as a solo artist, with the Jackmormons, supergroup Stockholm Syndrome, his burning two-piece The Denmark Veseys, and originally, with his beloved ‘80s cult band, Little Women.
Joseph is touring in support of his recent release, Weird Blood. This is his third album released in as many years with his band the Jackmormons. Weird Blood features Steve Drizos on drums and Steven James Wright on bass, and was produced by Dave Schools (J Mascis and the Fog, Hard Working Americans, Stockholm Syndrome).
The Rialto proudly presents Men Next Door Uncovered: A Girls’ Night Out Event, Monday and Tuesday, April 9th–10th at 8:30pm each evening. Tickets to these 21+ shows are $38.50. Doors at 7:30pm.
Get ready for a sensational event that will have chills running down your spine throughout the entire performance. From the masculine, yet charming men up on stage, to the production itself, you are in for a ride into a fantasy of erotic ecstasy with these male dancers. This theatrical stage performance was created by Richie Rich, formerly a producer of Chippendales.
A Night of Gypsy Jazz with Tim Kliphuis and Alfonso Ponticelli will close out the second weekend of the month with local help from Montana Manouche on Sunday, April 15th at 8pm. Tickets to this all ages show are $20. Doors at 7pm.
The evening begins with the world-class musical presence that is Tim Kliphuis and Alfonso Ponticelli, a duo straight from across the Atlantic known for their virtuosity as well as their passion. Award-winning violin legend Kliphuis (Holland) teams up with America’s top gypsy jazz guitarist, Ponticelli (Chicago), to highlight the music of famed musical duo Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt. Re-creating the 1930s in Paris, and drawing inspiration from current-day gypsy, classical and folk music as well, they alternate moments of dazzling interplay with melancholy and sheer exhilaration in an inspired journey that is different every night.
Afterwards, for all you swinging cats, the first few rows of seats will be cleared away for the upbeat sound of Montana Manouche aimed at getting you up on your feet for a hot time, so put on your dancing shoes and roll into the night right.
