BFS spotlights Oscar contenders ahead of annual ceremony
For the 14th season, Bozeman Film Society is proud to present the popular Oscar-Nominated Short Films. Showing at The Ellen Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, March 5th and 6th, all three categories are offered this year – Animation, Live Action and Documentary. Nominees, along with synopses and final running times are listed on BFS website. This year’s nominees in each category are for Mature Audiences Only.
Don’t forget to enter the annual BFS Oscar Contest! Ballots are available on the BFS website, in the Ellen Theatre lobby, and at Wild Joe*s Coffee. Drop off your completed ballot at the Ellen or email it to info@bozemanfilmsociety.org by 2pm on March 27th for a chance to impress your friends and colleagues and win some Oscar-worthy prizes!
On Wednesday, March 30th, BFS screens Oscar-nominated film Parallel Women, by acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodovar. His 22nd film (and 7th with Academy Award winner Penélope Cruz) follows two women who meet in the hospital while giving birth the same day. This chance meeting changes each of their lives forever.
“The somber meets the surreal in a gorgeous movie with one of Penélope Cruz’s best performances,” writes Chicago Sun-Times film critic Richard Roeper. Rated R, the film is presented in Spanish with subtitles.
The Oscar-Nominated shorts screen at 5:30pm (Animation) and 7:45pm (Live Action) on March 5th, and 3pm (Documentary) on March 6th. Single admission and weekend passes are available. Parallel Women screens at 7pm on March 30th. Reserved tickets are $9.25–$9.75 (plus fees). All films screen at the Ellen.
