Bozeman Film Society has answered the cosmic call and continues its latest season with a very special evening with acclaimed filmmaker Gabe Polsky, Director of The Man Who Saves the World? The event will be held at Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre on Saturday, March 7th. The film screening and panel event begins at 7pm.
Resurrection, indigenous prophecies, and adventures around the globe – this is the story of Patrick McCollum. A spiritual leader and peace advocate, he finds himself at the very center of an ancient prophecy that could decide the fate of our planet. Pulled into McCollum’s world, acclaimed director Gabe Polsky (Red Army, Butcher’s Crossing) will bring us across continents on a spiritual journey in which the absurd and profound merge.
A post-film guest panel entitled “Where the Buffalo Roam – Reviving the Great Plains” will follow the screening.
Film Director Gabe Polsky takes the Ellen stage, along with Ervin Carlson, Director of the Blackfeet Buffalo Program and President of the InterTribal Buffalo Council, and Wildlife Conservation Society’s Keith Aune.
Moderated by Chamois Anderson, Defenders of Wildlife’s Senior Field Representative, attendees will learn about grassroots efforts to bring tribal, NGO, and federal partners together for the Iinnii Initiative, the return of Elk Island buffalo to the Blackfoot Confederacy’s ancestral lands, from Montana and across the international border to Canada.
Arrive early for a special pre-show sound bath offered by Bozeman’s own Light House.
The Man Who Saves the World? is Not Rated with a run time of 87 minutes. The documentary features Jane Goodall, Rev. Patrick McCollum and Chief Phil Lane, Jr., among others.
“Patrick is probably the most extraordinary person I’ve met.” – Jane Goodall
“It’s improbable that you’ll even see a documentary so weirdly fervent. The absurd nature of the film is evident, but what lies underneath is almost magic.” – Hollywood Chicago
“The Man Who Saves the World? is one of my favorite documentaries in years – leave it to Gabe Polsky to track down and chronicle one of the most colorful characters and craziest stories ever captured on film.” – The Hollywood Reporter

Following on Wednesday, March 25th, critically acclaimed historical drama The Testament of Ann Lee screens at The Ellen. The film, directed by Mona Fastvold, begins at 7pm.
The minimalist, black-and-white historical drama portrays the life and spiritual visions of Ann Lee (played by Amanda Seyfried), founder of the Shaker movement, as she preaches radical simplicity, celibacy, and communal living in 18th-century America. Stark and meditative in style, the film focuses on faith, persecution, and the quiet intensity of religious conviction. Rated R, the film runs 137 minutes.
“The Testament of Ann Lee all but replicates what it is like to be in the throes of a passionate religious movement, and does it with a command and feminist fervor that is as undeniable as the mastery of the central, all-in performance from Seyfried.” – San Jose Mercury News
The Man Who Saves the World? and The Testament of Ann Lee screen March 7th and 25th, respectively, at The Ellen. Wine, beer and concessions will be available prior to the event.
