The sublime shades of autumn have returned to Southwest Montana, best enjoyed with a nice drive to take in the view. Take the scenic route to this year’s winner for ‘Best Overnight Getaway.’ Plan a weekend trip to Chico Hot Springs for a chance to soak the joints, feast on some delicious grub and enjoy live music in the Saloon. Here’s what’s coming up this month.
Paradise Valley favorites The Fossils front shows on October 3rd and 4th. Known around town for their authentic hippie music, the band guarantees a rockin’ good time. The members have been acquainted for years and are connected by their love of music.
Performing next is Ian Thomas & Band of Drifters on Oct. 10th and 11th. The group plays modern American roots music and encourage audiences to dance. Based mostly in Montana and Tennessee, the band also includes players from all over the country, keeping the music varied in arrangement, instrumentation and regional influences. The Drifters’ sets draw from country, folk and blues traditions with an emphasis on original songs, done in the old style.
Enjoy the talents of El Wencho on Oct. 17th and 18th. The powerhouse duo delivers big sound that relates the Montana lifestyle through immersive lyrics, catchy melodies and driving rhythms. Their authentic music is an eclectic fusion of genres that draws on sonic elements from red dirt rock, blues, country, Americana and polyrhythmic Latin percussion. Live shows are an experiential combination of their dynamic Montana sound, engaging storytelling and comedic flair.
Rock n’ roll outfit Cellar Door bring their debut performances to Chico on Oct. 24th and 25th. A rising presence in the local music scene, the band fuses deep industry roots with a creative take on familiar tunes. They don’t just play covers – they reinvent them. From the 1960s to the 2000s, their unique versions of classic hits blend timeless melodies with fresh energy, offering listeners a nostalgic journey with a modern twist.
The following weekend features the return of Justin Case Band, performing Oct. 31st and Nov. 1st with a special Halloween party on Friday. The ‘70s to ‘90s rock band covers tunes ranging from the Allman Brothers and Three Dog Night, to Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam. Grab a drink from the bar, boogie down and show off your silly or scary costumes!
