Art Opening Reception
A new exhibit of paintings by Livingston, Montana, artist Sheila Hrasky will be on display in the Atrium Gallery at the Bozeman Public Library January 2 through February 29, 2016, kicking off the Library’s 2016 Artist’s Series. The exhibit is sponsored by the Bozeman Public Library Foundation which will be hosting an Artist Reception, with refreshments, on Friday, January 8, 6 – 7:30 p.m., free and open to the public.
A plein air and studio painter, Hrasky has been focused on taking a subject, whether a landscape or a life figure, and then deconstructing, reshaping and re-contextualizing it through classic shapes of musical instruments, expressing light, energy and motion. Inspired by Kandinsky and Picasso’s cubist style, music has become a very important part of Hrasky’s recent work. “The biggest reward is watching the work unfold,” she says, “Day after day I push myself as a painter to create new images. Developing my own way of painting has taken many years to refine.”
The exhibition will be on display during Library hours. A percentage of sales will go to the Foundation to ensure continuation of cultural programs at the Library for public benefit.
