Host to stage and screen entertainment of all varieties, Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre is also a great place to catch a show by touring musical acts. Here’s a look who’s set to visit in the coming weeks.
Contemporary Irish trio One for the Foxes is set for a performance on Friday, April 3rd. Music starts at 7:30pm. All seats are $32.75.
The exciting and dynamic transatlantic trio presents a rousing blend of Irish and American folk music, having already won over audiences on both sides of the ocean. The group is made up of Dublin’s Tadhg Ó Meachair (Goitse), Galway’s Dave Curley (SLIDE) and Denver, Colorado’s Joanna Hyde (The Hydes), and features a mix of Irish and American folk music and song – both traditional and newly- composed – presented in an energetic and engaging manner.
Their performances strike a tasteful balance between the stories found in ballads across both sides of the Atlantic and the respective instrumental music traditions of these places. Through a shared deep-rooted passion for Irish traditional music, this trio highlights the vital role of Irish traditional music as an origin of many American folk musics, and explores how those styles can interact with one another in a manner both eclectic and grounded.

Keith Anderson & Life Heads West take the stage Saturday, April 4th, for an evening of original Americana music. Music starts at 7:30pm. All seats are $15.
Rooted in thoughtful lyrics, complex melodies, and enticing rhythms, this Bozeman-based collaboration brings together a remarkable group of local musicians. Led by guitarist and songwriter Keith Anderson, the band features Rick Winking (guitar, mandolin; formerly of Montana Rose and The Waiting), Kali Armstrong (vocals; Pinky & The Floyd), Amy Leach (piano, violin, and nationally known author of Salt of the Universe), Chris Cunningham (guitar, vocals; Storyhill), John Sanders (bass guitar), and Michael Gillan (drums and percussion; formerly of Montana Rose and Twang).
Together, these well-known Bozeman artists have collaborated with Anderson to create two albums of original music over the past four years, available on Bandcamp. As the songwriting and arrangements have evolved, the sound has grown richer, settling firmly into an Americana style best experienced live in an intimate theater setting.
Irish-American band Solas bring their 30th Anniversary Tour to Bozeman on Friday, April 17th. Music starts at 7:30pm. All seats are $40.
Gaelic for light, the name “Solas” is a representation of the group’s musical philosophy, which is evident in the luminous energy they bring to every performance. This concert will not only pay tribute to the band’s rich, 30-year history, but also celebrate the universal impact of Celtic music on the world. With such talented musicians performing with unparalleled liveliness, Solas is bound to entertain one and all.
Wine, beer and concessions will be sold in the lobby one hour before each event. Ticketing and further information about these and other upcoming happenings is available at www.theellentheatre.org. For additional inquiries, call the box office at (406) 585-5885. •
