SUMMARY:Amateur Radio “Field Day”
DESCRIPTION:Amateur Radio “Field Day” – June 28 and 29 – Will Focus on Skill\, Service\, Science\nWHO/WHAT Members of the Gallatin Ham Radio Club will be participating in the national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise\, June 28 – 29 at 435 Lynde St.\, Gallatin Gateway\, MT. Since 1933\, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of Amateur Radio. This event is open to the public and all are\nencouraged to attend. \nSaturday and Sunday\, June 28 and 29. On Saturday\, June 28\, from noon to 8pm and\non Sunday\, June 29\, from 8am to noon. \n435 Lynde St.\, Gallatin Gateway\, MT \nField Day is a showcase for how Amateur Radio works reliably under any conditions from almost any location to create an independent communications network. “Ham radio functions completely independent of the Internet or cell phone infrastructure\, can interface with tablets or smartphones\, and can be set up almost anywhere in minutes. That’s the beauty of Amateur Radio during a communications outage\,” says David Isgur\, N1RSN\, communications manager for ARRL The national association for Amateur Radio®\, (www.arrl.org)\, which represents Amateur (or “ham”) Radio operators across the country. \n“In today’s electronic do-it-yourself (DIY) environment\, ham radio remains one of the best ways for people to learn about electronics\, physics\, meteorology\, and numerous other scientific disciplines\, and is a huge asset to any community during disasters or emergencies if the standard communication infrastructure goes down\,” Isgur adds. Anyone may become a licensed Amateur Radio operator. There are more than 725\,000 licensed hams in the United States\, as young as 9 and as old as 100. And with clubs such as Gallatin Ham Radio Club\, it’s easy for anybody to get involved right here in Gallatin County. \nFor more information about Field Day or Amateur Radio\, contact Stacy @ stroscoe2001@yahoo.com or visit www.arrl.org/what-is-ham-radio. \nFREE-ALL Ages

SUMMARY:The Ghosts of Bozeman’s Past: Historic Sunset Hills Cemetery Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Ghosts of Bozeman’s Past: Historic Sunset Hills Cemetery Walking Tour\nSet atop a peaceful overlook\, Bozeman’s historic Sunset Hills Cemetery offers a panoramic view of downtown while each evening’s sunset reflects the nature of its quiet inhabitants. The early residents of Bozeman laid their loved ones to rest in this sanctified ground overlooking the town that their toil and labor helped establish. Bozeman’s early movers and shakers rest here along with others whose stories make up the town’s historical narrative. Here you will find the Story family plot where Bozeman’s most notorious resident\, Nelson Story\, is laid to rest alongside his family. John Bozeman\, the man for whom the town is named is interred there as well and that’s an interesting story . . . Join us for a tour of Sunset Hills Cemetery and learn the fascinating history of early Bozeman. \nMeet your tour guide at the entrance to Sunset Hills Cemetery located just south of Lindley Park in Bozeman\, MT. \nGET TICKETS
