DESCRIPTION:Amateur Radio “Field Day” – June 28 and 29 – Will Focus on Skill\, Service\, Science\nWHO/WHAT Members of the Gallatin Ham Radio Club will be participating in the national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise\, June 28 – 29 at 435 Lynde St.\, Gallatin Gateway\, MT. Since 1933\, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of Amateur Radio. This event is open to the public and all are\nencouraged to attend. \nSaturday and Sunday\, June 28 and 29. On Saturday\, June 28\, from noon to 8pm and\non Sunday\, June 29\, from 8am to noon. \n435 Lynde St.\, Gallatin Gateway\, MT \nField Day is a showcase for how Amateur Radio works reliably under any conditions from almost any location to create an independent communications network. “Ham radio functions completely independent of the Internet or cell phone infrastructure\, can interface with tablets or smartphones\, and can be set up almost anywhere in minutes. That’s the beauty of Amateur Radio during a communications outage\,” says David Isgur\, N1RSN\, communications manager for ARRL The national association for Amateur Radio®\, (www.arrl.org)\, which represents Amateur (or “ham”) Radio operators across the country. \n“In today’s electronic do-it-yourself (DIY) environment\, ham radio remains one of the best ways for people to learn about electronics\, physics\, meteorology\, and numerous other scientific disciplines\, and is a huge asset to any community during disasters or emergencies if the standard communication infrastructure goes down\,” Isgur adds. Anyone may become a licensed Amateur Radio operator. There are more than 725\,000 licensed hams in the United States\, as young as 9 and as old as 100. VITV has established a one of a kind\, cutting edge\, and statewide clinical care program by partnering with University of Mississippi Medical Center\, to provide free\, comprehensive telehealth services to veterans across Montana\, focusing on mental health treatment and the supplemental medical care necessary for successful rehabilitation. Locally\, we’ve teamed up with providers offering orthopedic care\, acupuncture\, and FDA and VA approved alternative medicinal treatments for veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). While our enrolled veterans receive care\, our in-house Veteran Service Officer (VSO) helps patients navigate complex VA benefits and claims. We recently won a Vietnam veteran and his family a $2.6 million dollar settlement related to Agent Orange exposure. \nBeyond health care\, we’ve joined forces with local agencies as a mutual aid agency. This partnership creates training and employment opportunities for veterans in wildland firefighting\, search and rescue\, mitigation\, and other critical emergency services—strengthening our local and state resources. VITV recently established Valor Fire Department\, a volunteer fire department\, consisting of local veterans. VFD provides a much-needed supplemental force to local by leveraging aircraft\, drones\, and other critical assets to counter aggressive wildfire seasons. complex emergency calls\, and gaps in the existing emergency response network.
