SUMMARY:Teen Theatre: Something Rotten!
DESCRIPTION:TEEN THEATRE: SOMETHING ROTTEN!\n\nFriday\, May 3\, 2024 – Sunday\, May 19\, 2024\n8:00pm – 11:00pm Fri\, Sat\n3:00pm  6:00pm Sun\n\n$23 – Adult\n$17 – Senior/Student/Veteran\n$11 – Youth \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShane Lalani Center for the Arts in Livingston presents a Teen Theatre production of Something Rotten from May 3 – 19. \nSet in the 1590s\, Something Rotten is a hilarious history-twisting musical. Brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play — though they find themselves stuck in the shadow of “The Bard.” Out of desperation\, they set out to write the world’s first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night\, the brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self (and all that jazz.) \nSomething Rotten runs weekends from May 3 – 19. Performances take place in the Dulcie Theatre at the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts in Livingston. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm. Tickets are $23 for adults\, $17 for seniors/students/veterans\, and $11 for youth 17 & under. Make reservations at theshanecenter.org or 406-222-1420. \nSomething Rotten is generously sponsored by Don & Marilyn Murdock\, Livingston HealthCare\, First Interstate Bank\, and Yellowstone Valley Lodge & Grill.

SUMMARY:I AND YOU
DESCRIPTION:I AND YOU\n\n\n\nBy Lauren Gunderson \nDirected by Sarah Sherman \nMay 10-12 and 17-19\, 2024 \nOne afternoon\, Anthony arrives unexpectedly at classmate Caroline’s door bearing a beat-up copy of Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass\, an urgent assignment from their English teacher. Homebound due to chronic illness\, Caroline hasn’t been to school in months\, but she is as quick and sardonic as Anthony is athletic\, sensitive\, and popular. As these two let down their guards and share their secrets\, this seemingly mundane poetry project unlocks a much deeper mystery that has brought them together. \nI and You is an ode to youth\, life\, love\, and the strange beauty of human connectedness. \n“…sharp and funny. Gunderson taps into a buoyant spirit … the touching ‘barbaric yawp’ (Whitman’s phrase) of these two deeply engaging kids.” Nelson Pressle\, The Washington Post \n“By the close\, Gunderson has guided us toward a sublime transfiguration that encompasses ‘Leaves of Grass\,’ John Coltrane\, Jerry Lee Lewis\, space and time\, bodies and spirits\, death and rebirth.” The New Yorker \nWatch this space for tickets!
