Meditation is a simple but powerful tool that can help us cope when we feel overwhelmed\, anxious\, and stressed. Meditation is useful at other times too with known health benefits. If you’re interested in starting a meditation practice and aren’t sure how to start\, or wanting to strengthen your practice by returning to “beginners mind”\, this class is for you! We’ll discuss and practice different styles of meditation including practicing with the breath\, body scans\, working with a question\, Metta practice and Tonglen. You’ll leave with an understanding of meditation fundamentals such as different postures that work well\, how to work with attention\, and ways to support your meditation practice.\nThis event will be held in person and via Zoom on Saturday\, September 12\, 9 AM – 12:30 PM. DESCRIPTION:Puberty is the time in a person’s life when they change from a child into an adult. This time is marked by a maturing body that can reproduce – or make a baby. It usually happens between the ages of 9 and 16. It’s also a long process and can take years to complete all the changes. It can be an exciting time\, but also confusing\, awkward and scary for young people if they don’t know what to expect. Having a trusted adult who is willing to talk about the changes is one thing that can help make puberty easier for young people.\nRegistration is required. \nEmail mshannon@bridgercare.org if you have questions about the workshop or have trouble registering! \nThe workshop is divided into four parts: welcome and intros (youth and adults together)\, youth by themselves and supportive adults by themselves. A water bottle is recommended as well. \nThis tour will meet at Sunset Hills Cemetery entrance.

Near and Far\, on Sept. 12–13 with Revolution & Revelry: Shostakovich 5\, an exhilarating program that journeys from the mischievous wit of Leonard Bernstein to the lyrical brilliance of Franz Liszt and the emotional power of Dmitri Shostakovich.The season opener features internationally acclaimed pianist Ying Li\, who will perform Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in A major\, a dazzling work celebrated for its poetic lyricism and virtuosic brilliance. Li is the recipient of top honors in numerous national and international competitions and has earned praise for her expressive artistry and technical mastery.\nCompleting the program are Bernstein’s spirited Candide Overture and Shostakovich’s monumental Symphony No. 5\, a masterpiece that moves from tension and uncertainty to resilience and triumph.\nShostakovich’s Fifth Symphony is significant because it was composed under intense political scrutiny in the Soviet Union and has become one of the most beloved symphonies of the 20th century.\n“Every concert this season invites audiences on a musical journey\, and this opening program sets that course beautifully\,” said Music Director Norman Huynh. “From Bernstein’s infectious energy and Liszt’s breathtaking virtuosity to the emotional depth of Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony\, this program reminds us that music has the power to move us across cultures\, through history\, and deep within ourselves.”\nLi has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras\, including The Philadelphia Orchestra\, New Jersey Symphony\, Buffalo Philharmonic\, L’Accademia Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala\, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz\, and the Stuttgart Philharmonic.
