Get a little dirt on your boots, a smile on your face and some outstanding pictures at one of the most photogenic rodeos anywhere with F-11 Photo’s Becca Tatarka and Doug Bundren. Meet up at F-11 Photo & The Print Refinery™ for a 1.5 hour class session and discover the decisive moment, the best ISO settings, shutter speed versus aperture priority mode, and how to compose the ideal rodeo photograph.
Photographer and instructor Becca Tatarka is a life long rodeo participant, including as a member of the Montana State University Rodeo Team. Learn proper arena etiquette for shooting at any rodeo event as well as how to safely be around livestock from an experienced Bozeman native. Get first hand understanding of rodeo athletes, find out how to recognize the peak of action, freeze it, and which focusing modes to use. Explore the countless photo opportunities beyond the arena including still life, candid portraits, detail shots and color abstracts.
Becca and F-11 Photo co-owner Doug Bundren will be onsite at the rodeo to help with questions, creativity and inspiration. Optional–after the rodeo, meet up at one of the Gardiner watering holes to share success, near misses and photos of the day. Location TBD.
To get the most out of this class, students should have a basic understanding of your camera including how to set shutter speeds, ISO, apertures, and different focusing modes. If you do not know how to do this, please take time to read your manual or come by F-11 Photo with your camera before June 15th and see a staff member who will show you how to change these settings.
A camera with changeable lenses is recommended for this class along with:
-telephoto lens(es) or zoom lens of at least 70mm, longer is better.
-several empty memory cards
-several batteries, fully charged
On location checklist:
-dress for the elements
-jeans (no shorts, etc)
-long sleeve shirt recommended
-ball cap/hat for sun
-$10 to get in to the rodeo, plus cash for eats and drinks
This class meets June 15th from 2-3:30 PM, then travel on your own to Gardiner, MT by 5:30 PM to set up and shoot–tickets to the rodeo are $10, and are not included in the class fee. The rodeo will conclude by 9 PM; optional meet up after the rodeo with Becca and Doug at a local watering hole (Location TBD). Dress for the weather, whatever that is: cowboys ride regardless, and so will we.
Tickets are $89.99 and F-11 Photo VIP members pay just $79.99. Group size is limited for this event and pre-registration is required, so don’t get left behind in the dust. Stop by the store at 2612 West Main Street, visit www.f11photo.com, or call 406-586-3281 with your questions or to sign up.
