DESCRIPTION:Country Bookshelf is thrilled to welcome Montana poets Sean Hill\, Melissa Kwasny\, and Gabriel Furshong for an evening of poetry and conversation on September 25 at 6pm. Tickets are not required but RSVPs are always appreciated!\nABOUT THE POETS\nSean Hill is the author of Dangerous Goods and Blood Ties & Brown Liquor\, and most recently the multi-genre collection\, The Negroes Send Their Love. His poems have appeared in Callaloo\, Harvard Review\, The Oxford American\, Poetry\, Tin House\, and numerous other journals\, and in several anthologies including Black Nature and Villanelles. Hill lives in southwestern Montana with his family and is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Montana. \nMelissa Kwasny is the author of seven collections of poems\, including The Cloud Path\, Where Outside the Body Is the Soul Today\, Pictograph\, and The Nine Senses\, which contains a set of poems that won the Poetry Society of America’s 2008 Cecil Hemly Award. A portion of Pictograph received the Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award\, judged by Ed Roberson. Kwasny is also the author of Earth Recitals: Essays on Image and Vision\, and has edited multiple anthologies\, including Toward the Open Field: Poets on the Art of Poetry 1800–1950 and\, with M.L. Smoker\, I Go to the Ruined Place: Contemporary Poems in Defense of Global Human Rights. Widely published in journals and anthologies\, her work has appeared in Ploughshares\, Boston Review\, and The Arcadia Project: North American Postmodern Pastoral. She lives outside of Jefferson City\, Montana\, in the Elkhorn Mountains. \nGabriel Furshong is a father\, writer\, community organizer\, and teacher from Helena\, Montana. His poetry collection Surrounding the Country a Chasm won the 2025 Slapering Hol Press Chapbook Prize. He reports on Montana politics for The Nation\, High Country News\, and Montana Quarterly\, and his writing has appeared in many journals and magazines across the country.
