MSU Engineers Without Borders to host Bozeman Without Borders 5K on April 26
The Montana State University chapter of Engineers Without Borders will host a 5-kilometer run/walk on April 26 to raise funds for sanitation and clean water projects in Kenya.
All proceeds will go toward the organization, which assesses, sponsors, designs and implements projects in Khwisero, Kenya, to provide clean water and safe sanitation to school children. The 5K is open to the public and welcomes both runners and walkers.
Assembly for the race will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Lindley Center, 1102 E. Curtiss St., and will officially start at 6 p.m. The race goes through Burke Park (Peets Hill) and will be professionally timed by Muddy Dog Sports. After the event, there will be live music and a food truck on site, and all community members are welcome, even if they did not run or walk. Music will begin at 6:30 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to bring their picnic baskets and lawn chairs to the event.
Participants can register early through April 11, and the cost is $15 for students and $20 for adults. After early registration, prices will be $20 for students and $25 for adults. Participants can register the day of the event.
MSU’s Engineers Without Borders has completed several projects in the Khwisero region of Kenya over the past 13 years, including 16 water well projects, 15 sanitation projects, a water pipeline and two rainwater catchment systems. Its members have also implemented projects for the students, teachers and families of 25 primary schools.
