Meet the artist: Linda Barnsley
July 26 @ 5:30pm
Join us at Green Door Gallery for an evening with artist Linda Barnsley and the chance to view her work in Portraits of the Wild. The show opens on July 26th and will run until August 17th.
For Linda Barnsley, Portraits of the Wild is the result of a decade spent observing and painting wild animals. Yellowstone National Park, with its abundant wildlife, is her favorite location for obtaining reference material.
Photography is an essential part of her work and the first step in her painting process. She is fascinated with the individuality and expressions of the animals as she observes and captures them with camera and sketches. In her latest works, wildlife are removed from their natural environment and placed into the world of humans. Their expressions and attitudes remain, but they now interact with a world they must learn to deal with.
Linda grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland. Originally Linda painted with watercolors, becoming a signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society. Her works were displayed in outdoor festivals and local
galleries in Maryland. In 2008 Linda relocated to Livingston, finally fulfilling her lifelong desire to live out west. As she embraced her new Montana surroundings, the style of her wildlife art as well as her lifestyle changed.
Green Door Gallery celebrates the work of regional artists and a culturally engaging experience for the viewer. It is located in the heart of historic downtown Livingston, Montana. As a member of the Livingston Gallery Association, Green Door participates in the 4 th Friday Art Walks each month June through September as well as the Holiday Art Walk in November.
