SUMMARY:Dialogue Across Differences with Dalia Mogahed
DESCRIPTION:Join the MSU Honors College and Access & Success for a conversation with author\, policy advocate\, researcher\, pollster\, and consultant\, Dalia Mogahed.\nDalia Mogahed is an author\, policy advocate\, researcher\, pollster\, and consultant who studies Muslim communities. She previously served on President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships\, advising the President on how faith-based organizations can help the government solve persistent social problems. Mogahed was the director of research at the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding in Washington DC and was the Executive Director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies\, a non-partisan research center that provided data and analysis to reflect the views of Muslims all over the world. She and John Esposito co-authored the book Who Speaks for Islam?: What a Billion Muslims Really Think\, based on 6 years of research and more than 50\,000 interviews representing Muslims in more than 35 predominantly Muslim countries. \nIn this talk\, Mogahed will address the lived experiences that have motivated Ms. Mogahed to do her work\, her understandings of issues impacting Muslim communities in the U.S.\, and how sharing those experiences has the potential to heal deep divides. She will discuss themes of connection and hope\, and how we can all contribute to a better future. \nThis event is free and open to the public. The talk will take place 4/3/25 in Romney Hall 306 beginning at 6:30 pm. Outdoor campus parking and the parking garage will be free after 6 pm. https://www.montana.edu/calendar/events/53602
