7th Annual Gallatin River Fly Fishing Festival
June 30, 2018
An event every day that begins at 12:00am, repeating until June 30, 2018
Gallatin River Task Force will present the 2018 Gallatin River Fly Fishing Festival with events beginning June 28th and running through June 30th. The Festival connects the community to the rivers, fish, and riparian habitats vital to the sport of fly fishing. Event proceeds support conservation and restoration efforts by the Gallatin River Task Force within the Upper Gallatin River Watershed. Here’s a look at this year’s schedule of activities.
Kicking things off on Thursday, June 28th from 4–6pm, festival sponsor Gallatin River Guides will get the weekend started with the annual Pesca Fiesta featuring deals on gear, cheap food, and free beer at their shop. Gallatin River Guides is located at 47430 Gallatin Rd. in Big Sky.
The Hooked on the Gallatin Banquet follows at the Gallatin Riverhouse Grill, 45130 Gallatin Rd., on Friday, June 29th at 6pm. Delicious barbecue, wine by Natalie’s Estate Winery, live acoustic music, and a live and silent auction will benefit the Task Force on the banks of the Gallatin River. Tickets are $75.
The main event will take place Saturday, June 30th, when the Outdoor Fair heads to Big Sky Town Center Park from 4–9pm. Celebrate clean, cold water and healthy fisheries! New this year: the Montana Distiller’s Guild has partnered with the Festival and will be hosting a Tasting Garden. After all, clean, cold Montana water is a key ingredient in their tasty spirits, and if fish won’t live in it, why would we drink it? And there is much more! Activities include product demonstrations; a casting pond with clinics by Master Casting Instructor, Dok Arvanites; casting competitions; fly tying; kids’ activities; conservation booths; and a dunk tank. The night will culminate with live music by The Last Revel, starting at 6pm.
Also on Saturday with time yet to be determined, the Great Gallatin Pedal, Paddle, Run-Off returns! This is a race for a healthy Gallatin River! Get a team of 3 (or more) together to bike, boat, and run to, in, and from the Gallatin River. See Task Force website for additional details and registration information.
